Great movie but negative

I saw it on TV and LOVE that movie. I was so thrilled to get DVD to watch it again BUT the negative thing is there is NO CLOSED CAPTIONED or SUBTITLE for Deaf, Hearing Impaire and Hard of Hearing people. Its too sad. It isnt worth it to buy it.

Really, really needed a technical adviser

This movie really, really needed a technical adviser for some of themore mundane science aspects of the story. For example, when Dr Halls'father connects his cell phone antenna to the dead power lines in thehotel after the earthquake. There is no way in the world that thiswould work, the frequency the cell phone operates on is incompatiblewith that length of wire!! Another example is the statement that the stored spent fuel rods at thereactor facility would catch fire if exposed to air. This is nonsense. The rods are initially stored under to cool them and protect theworkers from their radiation. After they are cooler, they are moved toa dry storage facility for longer term storage.Where is a technical adviser when one is needed!!

Entertaining, predictable

10.5 apocalypes is a disaster film about quakes. Essentially, a big quake reverses the continental drift and causes a huge gulf to form in the central USA. The first part of this film was pretty good. You see the aftershocks take down Mount Rushmore, several cities and cause massive computerized destruction. The problem I had with the film is the blandness of the characters. Some were even unlikeable. The friction beween Brad (Dean Cain's Character), his little brother and his wife was just painful. They act like teenagers. Who couldn't predict what happened to Brad? I didn't honestly like any of them, didn't care whether they lived or died, and had no interest in their soapy melodramas. The response from FEMA given their field record in real life was a bit comic. The disasters, however were great, and well worth watching, although the story lagged in the second part with the rescue in the casino.3 stars. Would've been vastly improved by likeable characters.

Could This Happen?

This is a great movie and it makes you stop and think could this really happen? I say yes it could and its slowly getting to that point here on mother earth

Take Dramamine before watching this movie

My husband likes campy, disaster movies... so he bought this just to see the special effects. We got comfy, turned out the lights and prepared to watch a movie we weren't really having high expectations for anyway, but thought it might be good for some of the intense end-of-the-world disaster scenes at the very least. It turned out, I could not even stay in the same room with this movie for longer than the first 5 minutes. THE CAMERAMAN IN CHARGE OF FILMING THIS NEEDS TO HAVE HIS CAMERA FOREVER REVOKED for the RIDICULOUS zooming and constantly MOVING camera angles. There is literally not a period longer than one second where the lens is not zooming in, zooming out, zooming FURTHER out, zooming back in, zooming waaaaay in to where you are almost looking up someone's nostrils, then back out again. I have never seen anything more annoying in my life. I tried to ignore it and watch it but finally had to give it up because it was giving me a headache and making me feel SICK.I have no idea how they thought moving the camera in and out constantly was going to produce any effect other than to annoy the crap out of the viewers. There is nothing good about this movie. I'm sorry. I had low expectations to start with but really, really have never see anything this bad before. In fact, I have never reviewed a movie before. The HORRIBLENESS of the camera work of this movie "inspired" me to come to Amazon and share my frustration over the stupidity of the way this movie was filmed. It is a shame they could not have produced something that you can watch without feeling ill when they had some pretty interesting special effects at the very beginning to work with. But it was all downhill from there. Any scene which has a human being in it is ruined with a hundred different zoom-angles in the span of a minute or two. My 10 year old shoots better video, seriously.

Science Fiction consists of the suspension of belief.

The reviewer said this movie is "for those into PURE science fiction"because there is a lot of fantasy in it. Science Fiction consists ofthe suspension of belief. Not everything has to be factual. Just enjoy the disasters and be glad you aren't really experiencingthem. The reviewer also wanted to see disaster movies based in reality. Justwatch the news: flooding in New Orleans, excessive hurricanes in oneyear, tsunamis flooding costliness, wildfires burning everything. Why would anyone want more reality? I haven't seen all the movie yet,but so far so good. I like it. I especially like the rawness of theshots.

Good movie

This review is from: 10.5: Apocalypse (DVD) This is a pretty good movie but take seasickness pills before you watch. I think someone let their hyperactive 10 year old brother work the camera.

Yuck!!! Save us from the 2nd Half!!!

You know when someone learns Microsoft Powerpoint for the first time, that they have to prove their worth by including every single type oftransition in the arsenal on every element, text, image, other. Thismovie was the same. Zoom Zoom should be the title of this movie. I think I got up andwalked away from the TV about all of 2 times, the first and the last;both times to get headache pills.Count me out of the final half. Double yuck two thumbs down.No and Thanks.

Crap

This is the most pathetic attempt at a disaster movie ever! Terrible special effects, cliched dialogue stolen from everywhere, laughable situations. The scene where Frank Langela's character tries to convince the crowd to follow him up and out is stolen right out of Poseidon Adventure, almost word for word. Frank Langela is such a fine actor. I can't believe he took this. A job is a job, I guess.

I have headaches half-way through the first eposide

This review is from: 10.5 Apocalypse: The Complete Mini Series [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) Even though the storyline, casting, acting, and special effects are okay, the ways the cameras are moving and zooming in and out, much like amateurs taking home videos without good image stabilization, give me headaches. The cameras zoom in and out a lot even within a split second. I don't understand what effects the director wants to create besides giving people headaches. Also, for quite a lot of shots, there is significant and intolerable snowy noise.

Even the camera work was corny!!!!

This film was one of the most corny, clichéd and hackneyed films I haveever seen. Even the camera work was corny - for dramatic scenes theycontinuously zoomed in and out on faces like a parody. The problem was, they were serious. The director responsible for those corny zoomsshould be exiled somewhere far, far away. The science was absolutely awful. The concept that anything man-madecould influence a tectonic event was unbelievable. I won't even mentionthat fact that events usually taking millions of years could suddenlyoccur within days! To have a fault open from Hudson's Bay to the Gulfof Mexico not only displays a total ignorance of science but strainsincredulity beyond the breaking point. The dramatic scenes were actually embarrassing to watch. I have seenpeople witness real disasters who didn't react as badly as the actorsin this film. Beau Bridges should be ashamed for appearing in thisfilm. I could go on, but suffice to say that all those involved in thisfilms should be drummed out of SAG, DGA, DGC, ACTRA and any other filmrelated association! But that is just my humble opinion.Thank you.

Total Junk.

Even the CGI effects...the only reason for watching this kind ofcrap... is bad. Some of the effects look like a badly done video game.THe destruction of Hawaii is particularly bad. The script isembarrassing. The characters are one cliché after another. The actorsseem to be making no effort whatsoever..but considering how bad thescript is you can't blame them. The original film was bad enough, butat least some of the effects were decent. This one lacks even that.Everyone involved with this should be ashamed foe themselves. A lot ofthis film is not even done on a minimum professional level. Even theinfamous Sci Fi Channel original movies, bad as they are, manage that.If Uwe Boll made a TV miniseries, this is what it would look like.

Cheesy movie, but fun

This review is from: 10.5 Apocalypse: The Complete Mini Series [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray) This is my kind of movie. Sure it's cheesy as all get out, but that is part of the fun of it :-)

The Big One was only the Beginning!

I enjoyed this film! The first one was okay, but mostly was dull. The"Apocalypse" has the best destruction from a tidal wave swallowing aCruise Ship, from the wave heading towards Hawaii, a volcano erupts, and the founding fathers heads being torn down...with much moredisasters. I thought this was the best TV movie that NBC has made andhas beat the CBS Category 6: Day of Destruction series. Kim Delaney hasbeen the best of her game. Now the only reason this film got a ninefrom me was the fact that this film does ZOOM IN and OUT, will all thescenes of the film this happens but after you watch the film for aboutfive to ten minutes you wont notice it too much.I recommend this film! You shouldn't be disappointed!!

10.5: Apocalypse

This movie is wonderful. Not just because I love Kim Delaney, but because the story could happen. It is a movie that makes you stop and think, what if this really could take place.

Just awful

Confusing start - unless I am missing part of a set? Characters who are crucial to the plot are dead and referred to by other characters. Filming style attempts to be "unique" but is just irritating. Too much soap-opera type drama among the characters. I couldn't finish watching it, the camera style alone drove me crazy.

Definitely All time worst movie

This movie is a guideline, on how to destroy an average idea for a movie. Big earthquake that will split the North American continent can be interesting idea for a blockbuster movie. However, awful lines, sad acting, and the CONTINUES ZOOM-IN, AND ZOOM-OUT of the camera, that made me dizzy while watching the movie. I felt like I had a car sick after 15 minutes of watching… Please do not afford yourself the misery of watching this movie
