Billa 2 traces the roots of David Billa, an Eelam refugee from Sri Lanka and his journey on becoming a dreaded don..July 13th and the day had come.. The whole of Tamil Nadu were waitingfor bated breath for this day, where their handsome style icon wouldarrive to the relish of his humongous fan base..Releasing in almost 2500 screens worldwide, this mid-year special madefans go crazy in expectation.. Heavy marketing from the team making useof social networks as a piercing bullet did wonders for the movie..Simultaneously landing as David Billa in Telugu, Ajith's Billa 2 wasthe most awaited movie of the year yet!Billa 2 traces the roots of David Billa, an Eelam refugee from SriLanka and his journey on becoming a dreaded don..Billa 2 boasts of a big starcast starting off with the mighty Ajith andmoving on to numbers of characters who grace the screen in one sceneand trace it in the next..Billa 2 kicks off with a well-choreographed knife fight sequence.. Theopening titles are impressive too with the childhood story of Billatold through pictures.. The highly engaging first half which shows therise of Billa is a treat to watch as it is packed with a cleanscreenplay and strong dialogues.. Stunts too, are neatly done eventhough they might be bobbed down a bit on the logical front.. At theinterval block, you will be left bedazzled and ask for more..Billa 2 begins to falter in the second half where it just wanderswithout any definite initiative.. The movie begins to slow down andrelies hugely on its stunts thereafter.. The climax stunt sequence ispackaged with grandeur and risky stunts but doesn't manage to pack apunch..Billa 2 is Ajith all the way.. With terrific screen presence andcharisma, he delivers an impressive performance much to the delight ofhis fans.. The villains Sudhanshu Pandey and Vidyut Jammwal aremajestic and fit the junction as perfect antagonists.. The leadingladies, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah have less screen spaceand don't live up to the expectations created.. Parvathy is trash inher acts while Bruna Abdullah is pure eye candy and looks ravishing onscreen..The supporting cast consisting of Krishna Kumar, Manoj K Jayan,Ilavarasu and Sriman have small roles intercepted into the script..Ilavarasu is undoubtedly missed in the second half..Billa 2 is a technically brilliant film.. Cinematography byR.D.Rajashekhar is top notch and the Red Epic works wonders in hisfavour.. The fight sequences are done in a stylish manner and seeminglyjustify the A certificate.. However, the scene where Ajith takes overthe whole force with just a bare W1300 is one which will test yourpatience..Dialogues by Era Murugan are razor sharp and are one of the big pluspoints of the movie.. Editing by Suresh Urs is fine as the whole movieis cropped into just 2 hours and 7 minutes.. Musically, Billa 2 isbrought down with average songs.. The BGM is apt at places and loud atthe others.. Yuvan seems to have overused the Billa theme throughoutthe movie, as it is heard in a lot of scenes..Thanks to its big budget and lavish making, Billa 2 stands to give youthe feel of a Hollywood movie.. However, the absence of a strong scriptand a taut screenplay bring the film down.. A little bit care takenover the written part of the movie would have ended in a world classproduct.. With the absence of big competitors except for the buzzingNaan Ee, Billa 2 would space out as a treat for action movie lovers..Verdict : Style Yes. Substance No. Watch it for the grandeur! |

Worthless and Fails To Satisfy The FansWe've forgiven many a films for their lack of story lines or defectivescreenplays if only they make the best of our heroes. And that mightjust be what fans will wish for once they comes out watching Billa 2.There're hardly any interesting song sequences in the film—and we getto watch Thala dance just about a bit in 'Bounce...bounce...'. Ajithlooks cool and at ease with his role, but we'd have liked more of thoseflashy suits, stylish accessories and some nicely choreographed stuntsequences. And these are lapses that we can hardly even forgive in agangster flick. If you liked 'Billa' and 'Mankatha', and expected as much from theprequel, it falls well short of expectations. As a film I'd hardly havestayed put through its entire length if it were not for Ajith alone. And if you must watch that'll be advise too - watch it only for Thala. |

Definitely worth a watch, maybe two!my first review, so ll be quick. saw this movie with small expectationsthough i liked Billa(which made me his fan). The director has triedsome new ways in story telling, which was good, what i liked was thatsongs were cut short so as to not drag the movie, people should learnfrom this guy. And one cant ever find fault with Ajith! he simplywaltzes in n out!But few scenes n other actor's dialogs could have been better!Especially the scene where he robs an arms consignment! That was plainstupid! Comparison with Scarface do come up, but the story is Universal, thisis how gangster's are made! And thumbs up for the stunts- not over the top and stylish at the sametime :) |

Stars and guns doesn't make a blockbusterdigest it boys,,,,, this movie falls a lot short of the sequel(billa-1)with a bagful of flaws in direction, screenplay, story line and script.the first thing i got to say about this movie is that the director madeup a story out of thin air without any background ,,any kind ofhomework was not done with script,,, A VERY VERY POOR STORY LINE ANDSCRIPT. Ajith looks a lot old than the 1st billa ,,,,again the directorshould have done a little work about this, however his acting is kind ofgood at some areas.... parvathi omanakuttan has nothing to play in thismovie and also bruna,,,,,yuvans music doesn't reach ears simply forgetabout it reaching the heart. fans can say that this movie rocks but itssimply directors inability and inexperience that makes me to give arating of 4/10 for this movie and all the hype given and formed to thismovie simply falls down. And finally isn't there any police in the city(India or Russia) if thegangsters are killing each other in hundreds???? |

Ajith really has to learn ActingOh my god i am so afraid to rate this movie because i don't know whatto appreciate about this movie.. this one really a big headache thenany other i experience in my life... Ajith shots people and beaten themto death and thats all about it, is this even a story? Even child cantell more good stories that this film.. Stunts sequence in some partswere ended up ridiculous shots.. and dubbing for villains(non Tamil)was quite bad! The scenes where parvathy present were so childish andmade for spoof or what?? Music was purely horrible to hear and cameraworks were OK..But everything else were total fail. Iam in half head ache whilewriting this review... please don't watch this film... really hits u tothe hospital. |

Gangster movie that doesn't pack a solid punchBilla 2 has widely been acclaimed as being India's first prequel.Audiences are already familiar with David Billa as a character, thanksto the impact of the earlier Billas which showcased the aura, thedaredevilry and the sheer guts of this man. Now, Billa 2 was supposed to trace the roots of David Billa. Billa is aman who is always on the lookout for the next big thing and loyaltycounts as his biggest virtue. The journey that David Billa goes throughin his quest for total control and domination in his domain is whatBilla 2 is, in a nutshell. It is a typical gangster movie with loads of villains and an invinciblehero who has truckloads of charisma and style. The fairly engaging first half of Billa 2 happens in coastal Tamil Naduand later moves on to Goa. The intro scene wherein Ajith is engaged ina ferocious fight sequence and the indigenous title credits aregripping. The dialogues by Era Murugan and Mohamed Zafar are thehighlight in this segment. They are filled with punch and meaning.Sample this "Na Agadhi da, Anaadha illa", "Mathavanoda Bayam dannambaloda Balam". There are more such dialogues that are guaranteed toplease Ajith's fans. The tempo is lost in the second half. The two heroines, ParvathyOmanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah are more like guest cameos. It isdisheartening to note that Parvathy doesn't live up to the hype. BrunaAbdullah looks ravishing and the scenes where she flaunts her bikinibody are sure to please the male populace. The villains, Sudhanshu and Vidyut are majestic and have terrificscreen presence. Vidyut's prowess at stunts has been positioned in hisintroductory fight sequence. Sudhanshu has to remain the cold andcalculating don and doesn't get to flex his muscles like Vidyut. Rahman has a blink and you miss type cameo while Manoj K Jayan, KrishnaKumar and Sriman have negative roles which they have done adequately.Ilavarasu impresses in the first half and he is missed in the secondhalf when the action shifts gears. Ultimately, this movie is made for Ajith's fans. Ajith looks fit in thefirst half while in the second half we get to see him in his typicalsuave avatar. The ferocious eyes in the fight sequences are Ajith'sbiggest strength. His daring guts in the climax helicopter stunt havealready been well documented but one does feel that the impact createdby this aerial fight isn't as great as expected. The fight sequences done by three separate stunt masters stand out fortheir ruthless nature. The fist cuffs are fast and they are violent tosay the least. The A certificate seems justified. There are lots ofstylish gun shots and blasts that send the pulse racing. But the impactcreated by all these explosions isn't great, again. The editing by Suresh Urs could have been tauter. The 'Yedho Mayakkam'song and the needless short belly dance number in the second halfhamper the movie's flow. That said, the editing and VFX in the'Unakkulle Mirugam' song remind you of the flashy style that you see inGuy Ritchie movies. It is also disappointing to see the 'Gang Gang Gangster' song beingreduced to a mere end credits song. R.D.Rajasekhar's cinematography has made sure that the movie has agrand look. The songs look glossy, the picture resolution isextra-ordinary thanks to the Red Epic camera and RDR's work in thehelicopter sequence earns extra brownie points. To conclude, Billa 2 will please hardcore action fans and Ajith fans inparticular. The emotional connect goes down thanks to a laborioussecond half. But, the idea of making a prequel and the grand scale ofthe movie make sure that the movie isn't a tiresome experience either.Given the expectations, somehow you feel that the end product hasn'tbeen delivered.Verdict: Gangster movie that doesn't pack a solid punch |

Billa 2 is only describe the DON's flashback..Billa 2 explain how David Billa comes to Don position. So, this filmonly focus on Billa (Ajith). Cinematography nice, stunt nice. But,murders and handling guns on this film is too much....... Anyhow, it'sa film of Billa not for others who acted in this film. Songs are failto keep a place in mind. Title card with itself has a story, directorhandled nicely. Editing work is super. The dialog which is in a film"Aasai Ella annachi Pasi" is a theme of story and the director moved astory on that, that is good. My point of view, film is like a MASS...Ajith fans should like this film, but am not sure about others point ofview. The glamor scenes are very difficult to see with a family. I give8 points to this film not only because of Ajith the story line which ismatch with Billa 2007, stunt, cinematography, direction and also forAjith.. |

Even every Vijay fan will like this Movie. AWESOME ACTING BY THE LEADING STAR !!!I watched it 1st show in CineWorld, Colombo, SriLanka. I am a huge fanof Ajith sir. There are lot of things to see in this flick. Since thisis my first review. I am sorry if I say something unusual. This is fullgangster movie. SO don't expect any comedy or romance or moresentiments as usual Tamil flick. Director/Screen writer has been withinthe story makes us easy to stay in the film. From the beginning it isshown David (Ajith) is brave person within few minutes of start itshows you. Then the journey begins. From the refugee camp he step in tothe business with Annachi which give him an entrance to the drugindustry. There he finds Abbasi character & many more. Film shows theway the David's growth in underworld & how his getting these. Ajith'slook as Billa makes all to say "WoooW". & stunt was awesome speciallythe climax where he take all the control. Positive : Ajith Kumar'sperformance & his portrayal of Billa character. Stunts & few more.Negative : placing of Idhayam song & the way it was shot. Usage ofParvathy & Bruna, they must have used more to do. That's all I feltonce I come out of Cinema theater. We enjoyed it as an Ajith film. Thisgenre is new and very violent. We should wait & see general audience'sresponse. I am too waiting. Personal opinion : Watch it as film Youwill like it. If you watch it as a real you will be get afraid of TheKingmaker Billa. Don't forget He is David Billa.... |

Disappointing film of the YEAR!!!With huge expectation , I SAW billa 2 last night. The Film comes outterrible, boring, rotten all the way. Billa Ajith gets orphaned due thewar between Sinhalese and Tamils and how he goes to tamilnadu , reformsas an underworld don and kill persons who were the cause of his familymurder. Hilarious script and not at all even average !! Ajithperformance is irritating whenever he shoots down, kill people andutter some non sense one liners. To equalize that, music comes outreally worst , and other performers found unnoticed and did not justifytheir role at all. I really feel Ajith should asking people if theywant his Briyani and start asking keenly to stories. Verdict :- WORSTDISAPPOINTING FILM OF THE YEAR |

2 hours of non stop actionThis is definitely this year's best action movie. As you know this is aprequel which tells us how David Billa becomes India's most wanted. Themovie shows us how he climbs to the top of the food chain in a verystylish and slick manner. Many of the action scenes are a treat towatch But there were some parts which looked very amateurish.First ofall i don't think any chief minister will travel late at night withjust one police jeep for protection and there was one part where Ajithsimply walks over an entire Indian defense force guarding an illegalweapons consignment from Russia with a shotgun,a truck and a sidekick!.This i felt were just some of the scenes which stick out like a sorethumb. Plus there was way too much of blood and gore even for a movierated "A". And some characters just go missing all of a sudden with noexplanation whatsoever.Ajith is impressive as Billa though and is oneof the main if not only reason to watch this movie. The main villain (you might have seen him in John Abraham's force) does a decent job. Thegirls were there for eye candy and do not have any significant parts toplay until the climax which i thought was a bit rushed and leaves youwanting for more. The BGM and songs are not world class but keeps youinterested. All in all you can watch this. It will definitely entertainyou. |

Atrocious,Awful,Absurd, its all formed of BILLA 2Billa 2 is clearly Scarface sans the death at end (Since this is aprequel and he has to be alive for the forthcoming events to havehappened). Directed by Chakri Toleti of Unnai Pol Oruvan fame, thisfilm is clichéd for most of the part, especially it replicates Mankattaand asal in our minds and for the most part, plot less and hence,we geta feeling of that nothing is actually happening,. With, not much of aconcrete plot, the movie relies on Ajith too much and ignores most ofthe other characters and it hurts the overall movie bit too much. And, most of the times, the characters just come and die/forgotten. Itis like going through a 10 year period in 2 hours. And, there is notclear time line in the movie. How much time passed from Billa steppinginto the refugee camp to the final scene? No idea. The movie fails toconvey the growth of Billa from one position to another. It is allblurry. Suddenly, he is a big shot and next moment he is a bigger shot.Nothing much to say plot wise. Same old wine, refined and repackagedwith some inane action, bomb blasts and over dose of glamor. I'm stillunable to judge Chakri Toleti. Unnai Pol Oruvan is a Kamal movie so thepart of director is questionable. Billa 2 has bunch of flaw, but is itdue to the director? Or actor ? Billa 2 |

Billa 2 - Colossal Disappointment Review - by breaking-viewsExpectations Don is one one mos the most loved gangster movies of alltime (both the old version & new one). The 2007 release Billa was theremake of Rajnikanth's Billa which itself was a remake of Don. Billa(2007) was a smash-hit, so the expectations regarding Billa 2 was skyhigh, plus the fact that its a PREQUEL made me all the more interestedin the project. The much hyped Don 2 turned out to be a damn squib, soexpecting a great movie from Chakri Toleti worthy enough of satisfyingmy thirst for a Don sequel Story "Everybody has a past but a Don aHistory" - Billa 2 is the story of David Billa, before he becomes thedreaded ruthless underworld King. How he started from the bottom, andmarched to the top of the underworld with brawn & brain.Billa 2 is not a worthy successor to Billa. The movie is notentertaining, it drags big time & tests your patience through out. Butthat doesn't mean its Class, its neither Class nor Mass. Chakri Toletiis the main culprit here (also the co-writers). The Direction took theaverage script into deeper depths. Editing was bad, felt as if its 3hrlong (actual length is 129 mins). Yuvan Shankar Raja disappointed bigtime, his BG & Music were one of the big plus points of 'Mankatha',here he simply......Read the complete review here : http://goo.gl/Ry3I3 breaking-views.tk |

Ajith Kumar deservd astanding ovation! And We gave it!!I did't even no that this movie got so many Bad reviews. If you dintlik dis film! you are not fit to watch a class pure gangster film!Ajith kumar and also the life style of gangster. The role hero is shownwell in the movie like the place where he born and where he grown andwhere he developed as a don, which is clearly directed and well said byDirector Toleti.Billa 2 - Perfectly Presented Prequel! |

Worst characterization for two kinda heroins andvillains. I real like David Billa friend Ranjith character is real donebetter job. First half and hour was good.I think director don't what todo in middle of movie real disappointed with director guy he missed outhuge opportunity Vishnuvardhan may be better than chakri toleti. Billa2 got hype, We fans aspect huge hit a mass movie from Thala Ajith boczmany vijay fans turn as Ajith fans by Movie Mangatha. If Billa 2 gotmassive hit then Ajith might got huge fan following but we missed out!!! Billa 2 Fails to Satisfy the ExpectationThe movie moves at a painstakingly slow pace that you might fall asleepin a while. It is a bad bad sign for a film with such an iconiccharacter. It is a blunder to say the past or history of Don Billa inan uninteresting manner. The film is technically sound and also stylishat times.Content is too weak that those plus points couldn't lift themovie up. Except for Ajith's stellar performance even Tamil audiencedoesn't have much to cheer.David Billa might appeal to audience wholike to watch slow action dramas. There are so many Gangster dramas inHollywood and this film follows the same suit. Ajith is the savinggrace for this slow paced flick.Billa 2 however doesn't capitalize on all these plus points. ChakriToleti's screenplay turns the hero into the formulaic figure of the'60s, where he's a demi-god and pretty much no one can touch him. Theonly difference is that here, Billa is supposedly a villain.Billa 2 isstylishly shot, and Ajith carries the film on his shoulders, but that'sall there is to it. When it comes to screenplay, logical plots andcharacterization, it fails to meet expectations. |

Honestly - This Movie LacksOn the technical side, Billa 2 is on par with Bollywood films(certainly way ahead than some recent releases) and even Hollywood toan extent. R.D. Rajasekhar's cinematography (with the RED EPIC camera)is just excellent. He had captured each frame with finesse; especiallythe action sequences and the songs were pictured in a rich and classytone. The locales of Georgia and Goa were beautifully captured as well.Suresh Urs' skillful editing kept the film's pace intact while thestunt department (Rajasekhar, Kecha and Stefan Richter) made sure thataction buffs were served generous servings of gun-and-fist fights.Yuvan Shankar Raja's songs stood out, especially Yedho Mayakkam. YSR'sBGM is also brilliant, notably the recurring theme music.Being a full-fledged action film sans romance and comedy, there isexcessive blood and gore (Billa 2 is rated 18 here in Malaysia) butsurprisingly less foul language. Apart from that, I personally feelthat the Gangster song is misplaced at the end of the film. ChakriToleti proved yet again that he is one director to look out for. Inconclusion, Billa 2 is tailor-made for Ajith and he certainly made hismark. The entire film is classy and of international standards. |

great disappointmentBilla 2 is one of the most expected films of the year 2012. But what itresults is a big disappointment. Billa 2 is filled up with full ofcraps. This movie has been given a big build-ups but it ends in wrongway. CAST AND CREW: This movie is filled with a bunch of new faces andonly Ajith and Rahman are the known faces to tamil audience. Other castand crew of the film is at its worst. Chakri toleti failed to impressthe audience with the poor screenplay and the way he has moved thestory. TECHNICAL WORKS: Stunts have been given much importance to thishigh-voltage action flick. But this film lacks in the story content.Song editing is too worst and cinematography is too poor. The mainproblem of the film is that it is a prequel to the biggest success ofBilla. It has failed to repeat the same. AJITH FACTOR: AJITH is theonly performer in the film. He is at his best in his efforts. He hasprovided a superb performance for his fans which they expect from him.Thala rockzzz STORY LACKS: This film fails in logic in 90% of thescenes. Actually ajith could have killed in many places easily and hestill escapes with just a small knife among many goons with guns intheir hands. More than that the way he becomes a don is very boring andillogical. This film shows some implications of the films Nayagan,Godfather etc.. Heroines are too hot but they are wasted. PLUSSES---->>AJITH AJITH AJITH... MINUSSES---->> EVERYTHING EXCEPT AJITH..THIS FILM IS STRICTLY FOR AJITH FANS AND CRAP MOVIE LOVERS.. |
