Awesome!!!!Best COCKTAIL of script, direction and performance. A must watch.

Watched "COCKTAIL". It is just awesome. Best COCKTAIL of script, direction and performance. A must watch. Hats off to Director Mr. HomiAdajaniya. He is fantabulous. Now I am dying to see his first movieBEING CYRUS. He should not have taken the break of six year after BEINGCYRUS. Anyways, He has taken a mind blowing script to seventh sky. Hejust blended the actor and himself so well with script so it is veryhard to believe that he has not written the script. Script by Mr.Imtiaz Ali and Sajid Ali is mind blowing. It is simply unbelievable.Music by Mr. Pritam is also good. Performance of debut ant Diana Pentyis marvelous. She has a long way to go. Deepika Padukone is fantasticas usual. Saif Ali Khan's performance is speechless. Even in smallroles but Boman Irani and Dimple Khanna are awesome. You can't feelthat you are watching a film. simply you will witness their life. Aftervery long time a have watched a movie which I would love to watchrepeatedly. Waiting for DVD of this movie to release so I can feelproud to have it. Go and watch friends. You will also like to watch itagain and again. Youngsters will like it like mad.

I hate cocktails

Worst movie ever. The biggest flaw in this movie was the Editing & Screenplay and theydidn't even care to put any background score. Imagine a movie without asingle drop of music.Oh good god i hate every second of this film, from the beginning anddon't even get me started on the story, characters. There was not even a single good feel moment in the entire film.Every single scene look like it was forced and that crappy Directionwith very poor Screenplay, was unbearable.I have to write 10 lines, of review for this crappy movie, that'sanother point how worse this movie is.Final Verdict : Don't waste your money

It impressively begins with an imported Gin but then starts serving a Desi Daru resulting in a mess.

COCKTAIL as the name suggests is a perfect example of the chaoticformula usually followed in our Hindi Films. Chaotic, because theyoften make a mess out of a film which in reality could have been agreat entertainer for all the young at heart. In fact it has now becomea routine to see new big banner films with a great star-cast, startingoff brilliantly in their first half and then crashing down miserably inthe second as if the makers had lost their interest in its making.Unfortunately COCKTAIL also falls in the same category of films whichsuccessfully manage to impress the viewer before the intermission butthen suddenly become tough to handle in their second half since theyhave nothing new to offer in terms of content or storyline. Now in caseof COCKTAIL, no doubt the viewer already knew that its going to be thesame love triangle as visible in its promos but still the treatmentlooked fresh and interesting with some good songs. So the excitementlevel was there which really gets served well in its first 90 minutes. But then what happens to the entire narration, writing, direction andacting in its later reels forces you to think that, "If the viewers cansee this huge negative difference in the two halves of a movie then whythe writers cannot see the same while writing it or why the directorcannot see it while directing it or why the actors cannot see it whileenacting it or why the consultants cannot report the same whilewatching the rushes of the movie while its being shot?"Putting it differently, COCKTAIL is quite similar to the pouring ofbeer which excites you well with its energetic sound, bubbles and smellwhile its filling up the glass. But if you keep the same beer for awhile then it just becomes useless losing all its charm, energy & tasterepresenting the second half of the movie. Such is a contrast in itstwo halves that it further raises two questions that Whether therehappened to be any problem in its making leading to this mess andWhether this was the exact movie, director wished to make in his mindor not?Personally, I enjoyed watching both its performances and the treatmentgiven to its predictable storyline before the intermission. But postthat, the same narration turns so routine that it becomes really hardto even bear it for another hour or so. Also the writers remain prettyconfused about how to portray their characters on the screen in moralterms. For instance, I kept thinking that How they really wanted toshow Deepika's character as? Was she a drug addict, a freedom lovingperson believing in free sex (sleeping with everyone) or just believedin being available?….Who was she as a person really? In the similarmanner, the script is also never interested in talking about thecharacter of Randeep Hooda, in the role of a cunning husband. In the music department, though the songs sound great as a soundtrackbut they do hinder the pace of the movie adding to its extra length.Pritam also borrows two hit Punjabi tracks from Pakistan's Arif Lohar(Jugni -Coke Studio fame) and Punjab's Honey Singh-Gippy Grewal(Angrezi Beat), may be since he is now working with Honey in his futureprojects too (probably RACE 2). Background music by Salim Suleman iscool working well in its romantic scenes and Cinematography surely addsto the exciting look of the movie in great terms. But writing about thetechnical aspects of the film would remain incomplete here if I do notmention the styling or fashion part of the movie deserving full marksfor its appealing outfits.Performance wise COCKTAIL is unarguably a Ladies film from start tofinish withDeepika taking a small lead from Diana due to her bindasportrayal and skin show. She looks sizzling hot, comes straight out ofher shell and delivers the best performance of her career till date.Diana Penty as the calm girl supporting Deepika, makes a highlyimpressive debut which is sure going to be noticed by the Industry. Shereally looks beautiful & elegant in all the Indian outfits and brings aspecial kind of innocence to his character deserving praises. DimpleKapadia is truly lovable as Saif's mother and one enjoys her scenes alot in particular.Talking about men, the film has a half hearted kind of performance byone of its producers, Saif Ali Khan. May be because he has done thesekind of flirting roles many times before which have now lost the pull.Though Saif is not bad but he really is not there in his full spirits.Boman Irani shines in his few scenes and Randeep Hooda is treated likea forgotten character by the writers. As a director, Homi Adajania who earlier gave us BEING CYRUS is in hisfull form in the first half of the film. But what actually happened inthe second?....is a question which only he can answer the best.COCKTAIL does have traces of Woody Allen's VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA inits initial reels but then it quickly falls off from the height andgets into the same old routine Indian emotional plot of a love triangleand its sacrifice. In short, the film can easily be compared to a COCKTAIL party in whichyou are first served with an imported Gin and then later on the bar-tenders start pouring some Desi Daru into your glasses openly. On aserious note, its really sad that they really ruined a potentialsparkling film just like that.

Not a good flick

"Cocktail much hyped movie with a star cast of Deepika Padukone SaifAli Khan , & the débutante Diana Panty had a good opening in themultiplex's of metropolitan cities , its an avg flick with some goodlaugh, impressed by performance of débutante Diana Penty she is justnot beautiful but proved herself a good actor But the movie lacks a tight script & was predictable which i hate halfto the movie and u can tell the end, & a concept mix of some Hollywoodflicks like My Best Friend's Wedding, Just Friends, Drive Me Crazy etcthis flick lacked originality i recommend this only if u got much time& money to waste "

waste of time..

another story of "from friends to love"..no one really asked to makefilms on same genre again and again..then why do they?nothing much tosay about the plot...a simple love triangle which is just stretchedafter interval.acting was below standards..saif ali khan wasaverage..deepika was good in patches..and diana penty..needs to learn alot to continue acting...the only positives were the locations and thesound track..."tum hi bandu" and "daaru desi" just lights up themood.....nothing else to say about the film..if you really want to seeit, see it when its played in any of the TV channels..better to watch anEnglish film or some other Hindi film if really interested to watch afilm

Emotions ... As real as it could be.

The good point of this movie is it not very filmy. The acting done byall the 3 main characters are above average, and story is also good. Iread in a review someone was asking for background musical score. Thenwatch Balaji TV serials. Even the Oscar winner movie "No country forold men" did not have any background score. If you want real life likepicture then you have to FEEL it. And if you want just family gatheringentertainment then watch Balaji serials or SAB TV. If Boman Irani havegot any more footage and scenes in the movie this movie could havefailed terribly and may become a Houseful kind of movie. So rightediting and right stories. Dimple Kapadi acting was very good, asusual.

Saif's Cocktail Lacks Taste and Punch

Post 'Dil Chahta Hai', Indian cinema developed a young urban audiencewhich was receptive to hip films. Trendy music, trendy fashion, trendyplots and trendy urban setting. Hum Tum, Salaam Namaste, Wake Up Sid,Rockstar etc. were targeted towards the same segment and were acceptedby the audience as well. These movies made Saif and Ranbir stars of themultiplex audience while Khans, Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar remainedthe superstars of masses.Cocktail is another film for the same audience, with the same cast andbelieve it or not, actually almost the same story line as previousfilms. Does this Cocktail have all the right ingredients to quench thethirst of the modern cine-goer? The answer is No. And it's a big flatNO.With some inspirations from 'Vicky Christina Barcelona', Cocktail is alove triangle on the lines of 'friends with benefits'. Guy chooses onegirl over the other, jealousy sets in and in the end one of the twogirls offers a sacrifice. Co-written by the seasoned Imtiaz Ali anddebutant Sajid Ali, Cocktail's weak script is its biggest weakness. Iwould put more blame on Imtiaz for not doing justice to his ownoriginal thinking by literally borrowing scenes, treatment notes anddialogues from Love Aaj Kal. Never mind the climax or even the name ofthe heroine i.e. Meera. Imtiaz's first four writing ventures were asauthentic as film writing can get. He did take a few creative libertiesin Rockstar but in Cocktail he goes the route writers like Robin Bhattor Shiraz Ahmad (Knock Out, Prince, Jaanasheen) would take. Convenienceof co-incidental meetings of Indian strangers in London, supportiveIndian snobbish girl offering her apartment to a total stranger, nobodyhaving a British accent despite being brought up in London, Deepika'smultiple mental transitions and mysterious new injuries Randeep Hoodacarried in every scene and much more. The director Homi Adajania in his second ventures misses more targetsthan he hits. In some sequences he is brilliant but those sequences arerare and are mostly performance driven by actors. In others, hestruggles to communicate his point with authenticity. The film has apoor first half hour with over the top and deliberate cheesiness ofSaif's character and senseless turns of events that you would expectfrom a Salman Khan's no-brainer. The middle part of the film is good, has strong comic segments and the story develops fast but as the climaxapproaches, things become way too predictable and mundane. The kind inwhich you start looking for loo breaks or tweeting. The one thing which does not disappoint much in the film is the actingbit. In fact, performances are the savior of this otherwise sinkingship. Surprisingly, these are not lead by the main characters butDimple Kapadia and Boman Irani's supporting roles. Dimple has deliveredan ace while Boman is not far behind either.Saif, besides the first half hour, does well too even though he was abit over-dramatic for my liking. Excellent comic timing nonetheless andeffortless dialogue delivery. Whether you want to see Saif Ali Khan asa 32 year old bachelor or not is a different story. Deepika Padukonehas never been a great performer but a bearable one and the statusremains intact. Her outrageousness as a party girl was convincing buther emotional banters was weak. Diana Penty gets a good debut. Shelooked comfortable in underplaying her part with a charming screenpresence. She needs to work more on her dialogue delivery and dancingbut she is definitely far ahead of the disastrous Nargis Fakhri. As adebut, its somewhere between Nargis Fakhri and Parineeti Chopra.Randeep Hooda has been wasted.Anila Mehta deserves credit for his camera work and breathtakingvisuals of South Africa. Bosco's choreography is also good to watch. Dowait for the end credits after the film is over as they show somehilarious bloopers and 'Second Hand Jawani', very well shot onsteadicam.I don't want to call it a 'BAD' film because that word I have used forfilms like 'Tees Maar Khan' and 'Blue'. Also, the thought of calling afilm written by Imtiaz Ali 'Bad' is a bit disappointing. Let's say,it's not a great film. It has its moments but the moments are veryoccasional. You should watch it in the theater only if you are adie-hard Saif, Deepika and Bikini scenes fan. If not, wait for the TVairing.

Utter failure

This is possibly one of the worst productions of modern day Bollywood. The director seems to be making strenuous attempts to display lives ofurban Indians, but its becomes almost immediately clear that he knowsnothing of the subject. The protagonist, Veronica, is a femme fatal forthe first half of the movie, but the second half invariably brings inas much moral indictment of her character as the director couldpossible pack in. She is disrespected by her boyfriend's mother to anextreme but doesn't mind, since suddenly her low sense of self-esteemis to blame for her 'immoral conduct'. Veronica's boyfriend, anoblivious playboy just looking to have a good time, of course on cuefalls for a good, virtuous Indian girl that Veronica is helping getback on her feet. This girl happily accepts his advances andreciprocates his feelings - the director then tries to infuse pity forthis girl in the eyes of the viewer despite the fact that she cheatswith her best friend/ care-giver's boyfriend. Why should we feel sorryfor this woman? Not because she's an honest woman, but because sheunlike Veronica is docile and morally intact i.e. a virgin. This is possibly the saddest depiction of the Madonna-Ho complex thatis so deeply embedded in the Indian psyche. The man sleeps with theimmoral ho and marries the virginal Madonna- a sad commentary on Indiansociety's ethics. The movie advocates bigotry and whatever the directorbelieves 'Indian morality' consists of - a very sad and limiting beliefindeed. In this attempt, unfortunately, ethics are forgotten. I am anIndian and am highly disappointed in this erroneous portrayal of mysociety. This heinousness promoted this review.

A great drink COCKTAIL i had.

I saw this movie months ago n i just loved it, 1st of all i felt inlove with Diana Penty, she is just just gorgeous, her dance in Tum HiHo Bhandu will be remembrance n her performance was way too good as a débutante nshe really deserve an best débutante award of the year. Deepika wasdrop dead hot beautiful, i just loved her character Veronica, she hasdone a fantabulous job once again n had proved that she can act despiteher criticism for her earlier movies, her intro was BIG WOW, Saif inthis movie was a full on comic, his sense of humor was top notch butsometime i felt it was over a top, and he seems to old to be cast inthis movie but still i enjoy his every scene. The actors, costumedesigner, music directer, cinematography deserve a standing ovation, they have done a wonderful job, Homi Adajani has become my top 10director on my list. THANX FOR A GOOD FILM

Nerdy Movie

Yet another rotten film by the 20something crowd, who clearly areno-talent nerds, who are in this industry because of connections ornepotism. On their own they are worthless bums, inluding this hyped upjerk director, who has written the story. The story is stupid, contrived and excruciatingly prolonged to spend the money earned on theback of the unsuspecting Indian audiences on foreign locations andactors-who are pathetic (as in the scene on the beach front Where dothey get these Anglo actors from..Central Casting?) The direction isawful and the music by the newer composers are typical of six year oldplaying with a synthesizer. Erratic disco numbersc and music if any isnot worth listening. The dialogs are stupid and boring. This moviesucks big time and the producer, director, story writers and musicdirector should get a day job and save the industry from disgrace. Onlyacting of any substance was Dimple.Padukone is good in few scenes. Restof the times, she acts like she is on vacation from acting. Saif AliKhan acts like he is on vacation. Rest of them are filmy wannabees AKANargis Fakrhi and Sonam Kapoor kind, who cant' act or dance. They takemore than they give to the art of cinema.

OK, could've been better mainly in the second half

Cocktail hit the theatres this Friday and the trailer being a decentone, I decided to go watch the film. Frankly, the movie was good in thefirst half though it bores at parts when the comedy is no longer funny. The second half was when I felt like sleeping because of the melodrama, and stretch which even Love Aaj Kal had though that was better handled. The first half is mainly filled with jokes, friendship, songs whicheven the second half has but those portions of the film bore and tendto make the audience think when will this movie finish. The second halfis more serious and there are several problems mainly due to the lovetriangle. Cocktail impressed me through the cinematography, it wasbrilliant. The performances were good too, Saif is given the cheesylines though he bores in the latter comic and serious parts, he hasdone what is required. Deepika Padukone is wild and this is one of herbest performances. She is shown drinking, dancing, and the bikini scenewas hot. Diana Penty is also superb in her debut, her simple Indianrole is played perfectly by her. Boman Irani is a master of acting,Dimple Kapadia is good as the mother but she has done many roles likethis though she is good. The songs were good, there were some reallygood songs like the superhit song TUM HI HO BANDU and DAARU DESI whilethe other ones were good but these 2 were the best. The main problemwith the film is the post interval portions and the serious turn themovie takes. Also, the portions mainly in the second half of the filmsimply bore and test your patience. On The Whole, Cocktail is an OKfilm and would've have been better if the second half was betterconstructed. The film will be a hit if not a superhit as it has taken aphenomenal opening at the box office unless its collections drops bynext weekend!

Super flop story and direction

This movie is a complete wastage of time. Lot of hives about it butmovie turned out to be a complete disaster. SaifAli khan's acting isvery bad and dialog delivery is poor.. Every 5 to 10 minute you havesome kind of small small songs which is very annoying and wastage oftime. Hindi love story also is not able to make an impression and themeis very messy. all of above there is no story. Director tried to dosome kind of experiment with the story revolving around. This would notbe a hit and i will stop watching all SaifAli khan's movie. My ratingis 2 out of 10 and i have got hang over after watching this so iwatched another movie to remove my hang over.. Anyway it is a completepackage to get bored.

This cocktail is not worth it... Disappointed..

First of all i'd like to start this review by stating that this moviewas kind of reminded me of a Hollywood flick that released in the year2011. Something borrowed.. I am not saying its the whole copy butloosely based on the same concept..with minor defects in this. Nutshell:- Cocktail starts impressively and fades excessively as theinterval gets close and after the interval it falls terribly. Saif as Gautam was too peppy, dialogues were OK-OK but i find some ofthem over the top. I personally didn't find this role suited for him orrather the guy in his age. But , still his acting as always wasdescent...... i mean good (did i say descent? My mistake). He is aterrific actor. No doubt. Dipika as Veronica- hot as hell, dazzled and killed with everything shehas and it really worked. She was perfect for this character, she didjustice, her outfit, expression and everything matched each otherperfectly and the audience went wowwwwww whenever she was on thescreen. The new girl Diana as Meera was fresh face or fresh sweet & cute face. Her acting as a debut was quiet descent and good.I found her reallycharming sometimes. Rest of the cast with dimple and Boman were good asalways.Pritam's music was the best thing in the movie. Every track depictsheer awesomeness. Although we knw how he does it. But nevertheless hedid fantastic in this movie.. Even the Punjabi tracks in the clubs werewell chosen. Direction was good but as i said when story line fallseven the director cannot save the ship. You hv to be spielberg orcameroon for that.In all a nice predictable romantic flick but not what i was expecting. An average movie with little substance, some humour. One time watch.and if you haven't you can wait for the DVD (No offence). :)

Very mundane and rotten

If you like seeing Saif Ali Khan being in a "casual relationship andthen all of a sudden getting serious" don't watch it as it's everymundane where characters have not played their portrayed (intended toportray) characters so well. If you don't like that kind of movie, welldon't watch. Saif doesn't realize that same formula is not going towork in every movie. Deepika didn't seem as casual as voiced in themovie and others are away from the line as well. Songs are probably theworst (on an average) collection this year, yet - except may be the'Daaru Desi' one. The story line is kind of arbitrary where things areeither too obvious to be interesting or too discreet.

Another cheap bollywood "wanna be gora" film

Being an avid cinema goer and having heard good things about the filmfrom friends I went to the cinema to watch it and ended up walking outin the middle, disgusted! This is another bollywood attempt ofstitching together stories and scenes from Hollywood films. The wholefilm revolves around a sex triangle and nothing else! People who wantto see a good story should not waste their time watching this cheapfilm. The topping on the cake was Arif Lohars song Jugni attached to acheap sex film, shame! Bravo to Saif Ali khan for his childish actingand dipikas depiction of her real life self! The 12A rating iscompletely wrong and I felt really terrible for the people who hadbrought along their children for the film! Grow up bollywood, takingscenes and stories from Hollywood and throwing in sex and nakednessdoes NOT guarantee a good film!

This cocktail was dry !

It could have been a little more better. The movie starts off with animpressive first-half having its fun moments and builds a good interestamong the spectators. The second-half looked story-less and a meredrag! It was a decent try to build an emotional scene but wasn't a verysuccessful attempt. Good performance by the cast of the film. Saif AliKhan gives a good funny side to this otherwise boring film with thesame regular bollywood story! The screenplay and the sound departmentdidn't really help to keep the spectators interested for the wholemovie ! Few of the scenes had no sound effects , No background musicfor the emotional scenes. A good debut by Diana Penty who plays therole of Meera- The perfect Indian bride very well. Also no one couldhave played the role of Veronica better than Deepika Padukone. All inall the movie dint live up to the expectations and could have been alittle better ! A definite once watch - 6/10 Cheers !

Jagged, Lengthy

After being ditched by her husband (Randeep Hooda), Meera (Diana Penty)meets Veronica (Deepika Padukone) and begins living with her. At a zanyparty, Veronica meets Gautam (Saif Ali Khan) and he too hops into theirhouse. The traditional Indian mom, Mrs. Kapoor (Dimple Kapadia), comesto London to check on Gautam. Now the Indian girl Meera pretends to beGautam's girlfriend. Eventually, Gautam falls for Meera and Veronica…does she accept her seclusion?Cocktail has a decent plot and a very good screenplay in the firsthour. The scenes keep you hooked to the screen. Dimple Kapadia is interrific form as the Indian mom and keeps you laughing in the pre andpost- interval sequences. But once she leaves for India, the film'space drops badly and drags unnecessarily. Few scenes are clichéd butthe Indian audience is used to and loves them. The scene where Kapadiacatches Saif is dancing raunchily to Vishal-Shekhar's Sheila Ki Jawaniis a straight rip off Dostana's scene where Sheila was Beedi.Six times national award winning editor Sreekar Prasad runs hisscissors through the film and gives it an international feel but lengthis a major deterrent. 20 minutes of trimming is necessary.Cinematography by Anil Mehta is consistent. Costumes and makeup are thehigh points. The styling of the leading ladies is superb. Pritam andSalim-Sulaiman's music gels well into the film. The techno beats inTere Naam Japdi Phiran are excellent and should have been included inthe album. Honey Singh's Angerji Beat and Sharabi are also wellpicturised. Second Hand Jawani comes too late in the film to beenjoyed. Audience was too tired to sit through the song.Length is the only problem with the film. Cocktail would have been lotmore enjoyable with a running time of less than 120 minutes. DeepikaPadukone gives her best performance as the troubled, wild,good-at-heart Veronica. Some reviewers have suggested watching only thefirst-hour. Don't! Deepika is at her best during Teri Naam Japdi Phiranin the second hour where her inner-self comes out. With awesomebackground score by Salim-Sulaiman, wonderful lighting and camera-workby Anil Mehta, the scene is the highlight of the film. I watched thefilm twice just for that terrific scene. With not a single dialogue,Deepika essays the pain, agony and ecstasy of her character withcommendable ease. She deserves another Filmfare nomination in bestactress category.Debutante Diana Penty is good in a tough role. She has the most etchedout character. Saif Ali Khan doesn't impress. He is too old for suchroles that bagged him many awards in the past (including the covetedNational Award for Hum Tum). He hardly shows any variety throughout.Boman Irani matches with Dimple Kapadia at every step and their scenesare hilarious. Watching Kapadia in a role that generally goes to Kheris a pleasant surprise. The story is not logical at places. In one scene, Gautam says, "I feellike a doll which two girls are playing with." Seriously, even I feltso. He continually switches between Padukone and Penty in the mostunconvincing manner in the second hour. On the whole, it is a fairlydecent story, only if the screenplay packed more punch.Cocktail would have got seven from me if it was shorter and morelogical. Two solely for Deepika's mind-blowing performance and one forthe wonderful soundtrack. The movie is not even half worth thesoundtrack.

Trailer is to be blamed

Cocktail looked promising going by the trailers. Well from now on Iwill try not to watch trailers of any upcoming movies. They spoil allthe fun. From now on its a rule of thumb, not to expect anything new ormind blowing from any film. It will help in enjoying the movie. The movie started off well. Veronica and Meera's friendship, giventheir entirely contrasting personalities is fun to watch. Enter Gautam, the dialogs and scenes are very hilarious. "Daaru desi" song shows howgood the trio's on-screen chemistry is. Then the "Tumhi ho bandhu"song. It is the best part of the movie. Diana Penty is very charming inthe song sequence. The music gave me goosebumps. Then the routine "love triangle" starts. The sequence where Veronicafinds herself lonely in the fully crowded pub is fantastic. Her actingskills have improved a lot. She has done a pretty good job. She tookthis role as a challenge and gave her best. The second half gets boring but picks up towards the end. Randeep Hoodathough very talented has too little a screen time. Diana Penty has donea decent job. Saif was as usual charming. Deepika added the spicefactor to the movie. And the music is another important asset to thefilm. Cocktail is not a great movie and Nothing compared to "Love Aaj Kal",which can be viewed multiple times, but all-in-all its a time paasmovie.

Cocktail

Recently there have been very few Hindi movies I have enjoyed. Cocktailis one I have mixed reactions about. I was drawn to the catchy tune ofTumhi bandhu and the beautiful actress Deepika Padukone. I liked theplot. It made me watch the film right to the end. I wanted to know whoSaif would end up with. I even watched the credits at the end to makesure there were no last moment twists in the plot! But my problem with the film was some of its characters. I couldn'tunderstand Diana's character at all. She was introduced as atraditional Indian women, dressed in Indian clothing and jewellery, defending the man she had married although he had betrayed her. Sheoffered to cook and clean when she came into Deepika's home. She seemeddisgusted when she realised Deepika and Saif had slept together. Itdoesn't make sense for her to fall in love with Saif then. Thisinconsistency in her character left me unable to empathise with her. They could have done a better job at this character by depicting hersomeone who had been repressed and forced to be the person she was. Thefilm could have been about her discovering her true identity and whatshe truly wanted for herself. The film failed to deliver in thiscontext. To be absolutely honest, I didn't like Saif much. I didn't like hisflirtatious ways. He was trying to come across as a player, but Ifailed to see the charm. I had no sympathy for him, or his uncle forthat matter. I found his mother's character inconsistent too. I'm notsure why she was so fond of Diana. She was after all partying withDeepika and Saif when the mother arrived. At this point, Diana wasn'tthe traditional Indian girl that we saw at the beginning.Deepika on the other hand played a role well suited to her image: open-minded, carefree with a fresh outlook in life. Beneath this exteriorcore, we learnt that she was fiercely protective of her inner self- aresult of being abandoned by her wealthy parents. ALthough she didn'thave a British accent, she is the one character I could understand.Living in London, I love dressing up and partying, and I'm not prone tofalling in love and getting hurt! Deepika was a girl similar to me, butwith fewer boundaries. She went from being sexually inhibited towanting to be part of an Indian family. This was somewhat predictableyet interesting development. I thought Saif would end up with her forsome reason. I'm slightly disappointed he didn't! And I admire Deepikafor being happy for Diana although she was marrying the man Deepika wasin love with!So overall, good plot, but some inconsistent characters I could notrelate to. Good job Deepika!

You need to be dumb to watch this

I didn't catch any sense in this movie . The characters are thrownrandomly the love scenes are too cheesy . The character of deepikapadukone is over the top in drama. You never feel any connect in thescenes . Overall I didn't get the film at all neither will anybody.Theonly people laughing in the movie theather on the stupid jokes were10-12 yr old kids. The Hindi used by Saif was something I read in schooltextbooks .Where is the Saif we saw in Omkara ? .Looking at the movieyou feel the director wanted to make a biopic and then producer forcedhim to a romance at the last moment .The movie wants to be a happeningnew age romance but often has the clichés of old Bollywood movies of90's. The only thing good about the movie , The name because this oneis a really bad overdose of those Long Islands which gave me a badhangovers
