dialogues and high violence

This is a kind of movie which mass audience & our elder like mostly. asthe whole movie revolves around NTR we expect a lot of action in 2ndhalf but of over direction it disappoints lot of people. the actress inthis film were not necessary just for songs they have been used. whilewe come to the story its somewhat had been taken from the old Hindimovie KSHATRIYA(1993). so the conclusion is if you are a NTR fan thenyou would like the movie to the top of hill and if you are not then itwould be watchable only once. And most important thing in this movieNTR extreme effort for this movie. according to me this movie playsimportant role in NTR life.

Dammu: To kill or not to kill

After much churning and deliberations the Telugu film industry seems tohave hit on a success template for its young heroes. It is a tried andtested formula which every young hero with a family is diligentlyadhering to. What is that formula and what is the secret of thatelusive success? That formula is to hail from a clan (on reel and also in real). Laterpraising the clan name mouth by every positive character and tune theaudience that the actor, who in reality is acting on screen, is theirsaviour for real. In a nutshell, the audience of today are seen as arudderless and bereft of proper leadership by the directors who aredishing out movies like these with amazing regularity. Well, we shallnow commence the story of "Dammu."Some 70 years ago, a cluster of villages led by two clans get divideddue to some clashes. The village and their heads are dead against eachother that they think of blood rather than food. After thousands ofdeaths, an MP (Ranaganath) proposes to existing village heads Suman andNasser that they need to put a stop to these killings to exist inpeace. But to let the bad blood flow concedes 2 days per year duringSankranti for the clans to go at each other. Whichever clan wins, itshall retain the supremacy over the villages for an year.Suman emerges victor almost all the time fighting with Nasser but hisfamily suffers most of the losses as almost all of the men becomehandicapped or die fighting their enemies. Amidst this scenario,Suman's wife, Bhanupriya gives birth to a male child. But to the shockof Suman, he finds that his son is a still born. Still he shows thedead baby to the aspiring villagers and tells them that his son wouldbe sent away for special training and would be brought 25 years later. After that he fights with Nasser and dies. Nasser then announces thathe shall wait for the arrival of the successor of Raja Vasireddy familyand till then he will not allow any male child to be born to thefamilies which support his rival.Fast forward to 25 years later, there is a young orphan of 25 years, NRamachandra (NTR) who has a bank balance of Rs.63 lakhs. He earned thismoney through his adventurous deeds of saving people and acceptingdonations from them. Though he saves people from dangerous situationsand fights amazingly well, he abhors killings. He just wants to letpeople know that LIFE IS GIVEN TO LIVE. All he wants now is agirlfriend to marry. He sees Satya (Trisha) who is a heiress for 6000crore empire. He falls for her but she puts a condition that he shouldhail from a royal family to claim her hand. In the meanwhile, Ali theside-kick of NTR reveals that there is a Raja (Kota Srinivasa rao) whois secretly trying to adopt someone as successor to his throne. NTRfalls for the offer and immediately accepts the proposal. After the adoption ceremony is done, he is renamed as Vijayadhwaja SriSimha and taken to the ancestral village where the villagers arewaiting for the arrival of the successor to liberate them from thevillainy of Nasser. What shall Sri Simha do now? As popularly demandedby all who surround him, just change his mind and take up the sword andkill all the enemies? Or will he abhor the challenge and just run awayfrom the task? Will the violence which has engulfed the village willever subside? To know all the answers just see "Dammu." NTR carries the film on his shoulders. He is the sole positive point ofthe film and it is because of his performance that the film stands ontwo firm feet. He showed enough meat in his acting and some scenes inwhich he contemplates about quitting the place really showcase histalent. Though these kind of characters are not new to NTR, he bringsin enough thrust to the proceedings. The female leads, Trisha andKarthika disappoint a lot. They share no chemistry with NTR and looktaller than him in most of the scenes. Coming to the direction, Boyapati Srinivas clearly had his targetaudience in mind. It has to be said that he had catered to theexpectations of fans of NTR and of Nandamuri family. The openingepisode in which the main story of the village rivalry is establishedremains the most riveting part of the film as the emotions areeffectively portrayed. But the rest of the film does not match up tothose expectations though at few points, the director gives a rousingtouch like in the scene where NTR takes the reins of the horses andalso the scene where NTR takes up the sword reluctantly and startskilling. But had that zest remained throughout and some unnecessaryscenes were cut, the overall impact would have been much higher. The music of MM Keeravani is better to be heard rather than seen as thesongs were not effectively shot nor properly placed. The placement of"Ruler" song was a major disappointment. Re-recording is always MMKeeravani's high point and he did not disappoint. On the whole, Dammu is a film which fits into the mass template and themass formula. It might make some good collections and be called as ahit, but actually it does not take telugu cinema any forward. Its justas routine as the previous telugu film.

Not meet the expectations

Another high expected movie of NTR but again it frustrated me. The onlyachievement of this film is NTR's action sequence not even his acting. All the other actors are very comes and go appearance. If NTR is not inthis movie the movie is a disaster. Boyapati should more careful aboutthe script and editing also. Music is good but not meet theexpectation. Casting is another weak point of this movie. continuity isso much unparalleled. For example the relation of NTR and his adoptedfather's mother's is not clear in the movie. The director should bringmore twist in this part. i am not sure how its possible for theaudience to take this in the theater.

Cheesy dialogs and unnecessary violence.

Same old movie for the masses inflicted with cheesy dialogs, physicsdefying fight scenes, and tears. No role was given to the heroines, andthe whole movie revolves around the hero. The role given to NTR wasjustified thoroughly, due to NTR's action, dialogs and talenteddancing. Too much unnecessary violence and adult jokes earned the moviea needless "A" from the CBFC. The direction didn't have any intellectinvolved in it. All the directors efforts were channeled into theendless abyss of fights. Both heroines lacked charisma and were madebeautiful by additional makeup. The music provided by MM Keeravani wasnice and pleasing to hear. Bottomline: Watch this movie without yourkids and only if there is no other movie in the theater.
