1960's Agent K is about the only thing this movie has going for it.

MIB 3 is not very good. The humour is missing. Tommy Lee is not in itenough and when he is in it I feel he doesn't want to be. It is not abad movie just not a good one. Will Smith is the same old wisecrackingfool but lately I feel Will Smith is not enjoying acting. A lot of hismovies rely on that wisecracking youngster but he's just not that guyanymore. Will Smith is a different person and you can see he tries hisbest to get into the "Hell No" thang but his heart is just not in itand it rings hollow. The best actors were Griff and 1960's Agent K. The general idea is good. Go back in time to save the day. The goofylooking aliens are still there but it doesn't work. The action scenesdon't add up, there is no drama or tension at any point and the humouris hollow. And really there is only a single gadget. The charm of the MIB 1 was the fish out of water element. The surlyAgent K and the continuously amazed Agent J playing off each other in akind of buddy movie. In this kind of movie you need to see someoneexperiencing the magic for the first time and you need to have two goodbuddies. As it stands it's not bad. It is a monied film with high productionvalues and it does stay true to it's own aesthetic but it loses theheart. It loses the buddy thing and it loses the wonder of discovery.

Good but not a money worth.

Had a taste of fresh Mib 3 today. After a gap of almost 10 years thisseemed to be a new start. Starting of the movie was good with Borisescaping...but then in first half the movie out to be slowuninteresting, unrelated to the original flow of the movie, though therewere many comic sequences with could keep me seated .Both Will andTommy discover there roles as they they go more into there past.Allhave done a nice job in the movie. Coming to the second half the moviewent out fast and more action filled the thrill in the audiences.Theconcept of Apollo mission was good, though seemed somewhat foolish.Thesecond most important thing was what agent j discovers his crux in hischildhood and how the agent k was helpful to him.The whole outcome is that this movie is a onetime watch

A Bit Thin

Interesting enough as time travel with aliens movie but not reallyenough good ideas and does not contain much novel material. What a filmthat is supposed to be about CGI spectacle and strange aliens has to befancy ar**ed about sixties cultural references - lord only knows. Theplot revolves around 'The Terminator', eg Will Smith has to go back intime to prevent the Tommy Lee Jones characte being killed by his archnemesis Boris, who has escaped top security jail on the Moon! The Borischaracter is not played by Tim Curry but nevertheless is way over thetop but not truly original or menacing enough. Most of it is aconventional 'Let's save the Earth from a Napoleon-complex megabaddie.' And it is terribly thin on spectacle as it arcs its way to thefinal showdown at Cape Canaveral. Good jokes for adults and anexcellent lookalike and soundalike performance by Josh Brolin as theyoung Tommy Lee Jones, but film wastes 3D - and the price at the OdeonPutney was a total rip off - £10!!!!!! Not good enough by half.

was not worth the wait

This time i did not read any reviews just to give it a clean start. Asmuch as I liked the first one and was disappointed with the 2nd Ireally looked forward to this.Expecting a great plot, eye popping visualeffects and good fun. After all it's been like ten years since MIBII andCGI tech has gone to a whole different level. Well I am sorry to saybut I did get none of them. 3D - hardly any notable, don't bother 2Dwill do just fine plot- OK visual effects- did expect much moreBoris, the bad guy -really weak character good fun - I felt it was a bittoo much too tiring Will Smith only Josh Brolin kept this together, hewas a bit of fresh air. So unfortunately it doesn't live up toexpectations, rather feels it should have never continued, not like thisanyway...

Josh Brolin is the best

The first Men in Black movie I saw was the second one. It didn't reallyimpress me, so I didn't rush to see the first one. But as part III wasapproaching I thought I should check it out and I was surprised, Iliked it very much, but I still didn't go into the cinema with highthopes, but again I had to realize that I was wrong. The movie's not amasterpiece, it won't change your life, but it's fun, and that's whatcounts. The story was good (I always like good time-travel in films),the action and the effects worked, Will Smith was funny as ever, butJosh Brolin's Tommy Lee Jones impression was the best. The interactions between J and K were well written and Jemaine Clementdid a terrific job as the villain. But sometimes I found the alienelements to be too much. Boris's hand and those spikes he shot out ofit were kind of ridiculous, and his motives weren't very clear, butthat doesn't take much away from the experience. Also there were someplot-holes and things that weren't explained, but I guess time-travelis hard to write, because it doesn't exist. I don't want to pick thismovie apart, so I won't talk about these illogicalities, see them foryourself. All in all the movie isn't the best, but it isn't bad at all.Enjoyable, funny and brings back nice memories. Oh and the music wasreally good too (Danny Elfman did the composing).Score: ★★★★

MIB3, Alien Sci-Fi or an Action?

The movie is good, but I couldn't decide, is it a MIB film? Obviouslyit is, but it didn't have that many aliens that we had in the MIBseries so far. The movie did great as an action film, but not so greatas a Sci- Fi. The comedy was done perfectly, except I would have liked them to cutdown on the jokes for my action scenes, some scenes where left abanded. The movie has an amazing ending, but has a really slow middle.I really liked the movie because it just had wonderful CGI, when youcould get it. The 3D was OK, but instead of having it in 3D, theyneeded to spend more money on the scenery in the 60's part of the film,it looked like we where in 2009.The movie was great and very funny, but sometimes overloaded, andpaced. The movie goes for 106mins, but I would rather have the movie gofor 130mins and have some great action scenes, some more comedy, somemore 3D scenes and some more Aliens. I have a feeling the movie was lowbudgeted.I will give the movie this though, it was fun, funny and SOMETIMESentertaining. It did have good action scenes, when you could get them(which was very rarely), some AWESOME CGI (which I felt like we missedout on), and a really great ending (Very heartfelt). But really thismovie shouldn't be called a MIB movie. Sorry, it was still good though.

Pitbull Sucks!

Written Markus Robinson, Edited by Nicole I. Ashland I waited ten years for this?! This third installment of the beloved(yet seemingly forgotten) "Men in Black" franchise reunites not onlyWill Smith (The Pursuit of Happiness)and Tommy Lee Jones (No Countryfor Old Men), but also director Barry Sonnenfeld and writer LowellCunningham; in a film that leaves much to be desired when held side byside with the original. In fact, for the first forty-five minutes, "Menin Black 3" is almost unwatchable, containing relatively no laughs. So,is Will Smith to blame simply because, unlike any film in the seriesbefore, "Men in Black 3" is pretty much the Will Smith show? Well, theanswer to that question is a resounding no. The disappointments hereactually stem from not poor script structure, but an abundance ofshockingly dull one liners. The sad fact is that Will Smith is givenabsolutely nothing funny to say for the first half of the film. And, ofcourse, it doesn't help that during the final credits audiences aresubjected to that God awful Pitbull song. It isn't until the arrival ofJosh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), nearly half way through, thatthings with "Men in Black 3" become even the slightest bitentertaining. And, as you can probably tell by my rating, this filmdoes get better as the second hour hits its stride. But if what I sayis true and only half the movie is worth watching, then shouldn't logicdictate that my admission price be cut in half? The Plot: This thirdinstallment follows Agent K (Jones) and (now veteran) Agent J (Smith)as they go about their Men in Black business; you know, protecting theearth from the scum of the universe and zapping people in the eyes withthat memory eraser thing. But little do they know that an evil alien, with the very fitting name of Boris The Animal, has just escaped fromintergalactic prison, and has the elimination of Agent K on his mind. But he doesn't plan on killing K in the conventional alien way (noprobing). Boris plans to go back in time and kill young Agent K. So,when Agent J wakes up one day to find his partner missing, "to find thetruth, he has to do back in time" (damn you Pitbull!).There are really only two reasons to watch "Men in Black 3": The firstbeing the standout performances of Brolin, who is a shoe-in to one dayplay Tommy Lee Jones in the Tommy Lee Jones story, and Jemaine Clement(The Flight of the Conchords) who plays the witty and grotesque (bestvillain of the series) Boris The Animal. The second reason being, forhow lackluster and ill conceived the plot of "Men in Black 3" seems forabout an hour, the twist in the final act is one of the most pleasantlysurprising payoffs in any sci-fi movie I have seen since the 90's. Ihesitate to say that this ending is so good that it makes up for therest of this below average film, but...it sort of does.Final Thought: "Men in Black 3" is a horse that starts the race offslow, but finishes strong. And while I don't see this horse winning anyraces among critics (and maybe I've just used one too many horse racinganalogies for my own good) if you are a fan of the Men in Black series,"Men in Black 3" will be something worth wasting a Saturday afternoonwatching. On the other hand, if "Men in Black 2" was in your mind,"just OK", then don't waste your time with this film. Please visit my page on Examiner.comhttp://www.examiner.com/x-52464-San-Jose-Indie-Movie-Examiner and leaveany comments you have about this or any review. A whole lot of fun.

This movie was a total blast. I grew up with the first Men in Black andwhile my appreciation of it waned over the years, I still found a charmin the genesis of the relationship between Agent J and K thanks to thewinning chemistry between Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. The two ofthem made for a nice play on the buddy scenario, but after theunbearable sequel led to a ten year gap between the second film andthis new entry, I can't say I was too excited to see what they came upwith next. Men in Black 3 sounded at first like nothing more than acash grab to me, just another one of the many examples of Hollywooddigging into the old well to find once viable financial properties thatthey can milk a few more cents out of instead of trying to run a riskon an original idea. The summer season is loaded with one anemic blockbuster after another, capitalizing on awful trends or beating any franchise they can into theground, and it seemed like this was going to be just another primedemonstration of the lack of any exciting voice in that kind of market. With rumors of stalled production leading to a delay due to themneeding to rework the entire script (since they were shooting without afinished one), it really didn't seem like there was much hope for Menin Black 3 to be anything more than what my worst fears were for it.So color me surprised when it actually turned out to not only be one ofthe most purely enjoyable experiences of the year so far, but also atightly-plotted adventure loaded with solid action and fineperformances. The CGI got to be a little much at times, particularly inthe later sequences, but the third installment in this franchise iseasily my favorite of the bunch thanks to a plot that throws the wholepremise for a loop and allows for some fresh blood to come in and makethe familiar things feel new again. After the typical villain (Jemaine Clement, totally disappeared underhours of extensive makeup) murders K and leaps back in time, J has tofind a way back in order to save him. He runs into the younger versionof his surly partner, played with remarkable charm by the alwayswelcome Josh Brolin. Brolin exploded onto the scene in 2007 and 2008with two banner years in a row (culminating in a much-deserved Oscarnomination for his work in Gus Van Sant's Milk), but he disappointed inthe years following with one misfire after another, where his onlyquality effort had him playing fourth fiddle in an all-too-briefappearance in the Coens' True Grit.Hopefully his work here is a sign of a resurgence for the great actor, because he takes to the task of playing a young Tommy Lee Jones like amoth to the flame, immediately impressing with his knack for theveteran's mannerisms but evolving well beyond mere impersonation overthe course of the film. Brolin turns in a performance that transcendsthe boundaries of the character, making his version of K a well-roundedand complete individual -- you slowly forget that he's playing ayounger version of another man and grow to accept the performancecompletely in its own right, not an easy feat to pull off on Brolin'sfront.Brolin isn't the only member of the cast who impresses here though, asdirector Barry Sonnenfeld (reprising his position from the first twoinstallments) gets to work with a fine ensemble all the way through.Jones isn't in it much, but he's as fun as ever in this role and WillSmith marks his return to the big screen after four years of pimpingout his kids as if he had never left in the first place. Smith andJones made this series, but this new installment puts a lot on theshoulders of the former by making him drive it with a new partner andboth him and Brolin are more than up to the task. Many of the ensemble do fine jobs in their smaller roles, but specialnote must be given to Michael Stuhlbarg who has quietly been making aname for himself as one of the most promising actors working right now. After a tremendous performance for the Coens in A Serious Man andweekly works of effeminate marvel on Boardwalk Empire, here he takes abold new path with a mile-a-minute character and he steals every singlescene he has. As much as I enjoyed everyone in the cast, Stuhlbarg isthe one who I found myself having the most fun with throughout thecourse of the picture.Men in Black 3 doesn't do anything to reinvent the wheel, but it makesa case for re-energizing certain franchises if the right people getinvolved with them. Bringing back the people who made the first filmsuch a summer treat, this is pure popcorn fun that actually manages tobe fun. Taking on a time travel plot is always tricky, but that delayin production to work on the script more than paid off, as thenarrative is surprisingly well-developed and never feels too convolutedor too simple. At the end of the day, where the film succeeds the mostis in its entertainment value, but it doesn't short change theintelligence of the audience either. With an ace cast, atightly-plotted script and a surprisingly emotional final act, Men inBlack 3 gets just about the most it can out of your conventional summerblockbuster.

This is good and back to it's roots! spoiler alert

Just need to put this out. I watched the 2D version and not the 3Dversion. Based on the information that this film is converted to 3D. Anyway, Will Smith and reprising his role as J. Not bad eh? Tommy LeeJones is only in this film for a bit but Josh Brolin plays an amazingTommy Lee Jones - Agent K. You would think at first that Tommy LeeJones used his voice through out the film. But no... this is top classacting. The film is centred on aliens. Obviously. Rescue the planet again.Generally speaking, all 3 films were based on this.I would say kids should love this film. I gave it a 7 based on the factI watched Prometheus recently. I gave that an 8. So no way this film isbetter than that.Anyway, enjoy. I laughed a lot throughout the film and did not getbored.Just word of warning. My partner thought it was boring and fell a sleephalf way through the film. So I guess, the film is like mar-mite. Youlike it or just don't like it.For me? I loved it. Made me chuckle throughout.

Eh.. I guess

MIB III, so after the previous adventures of agent J and K a alien thatK put away 40 years ago breaks out of prison and goes back in time totry to stop K from putting him away and as a result taking over theearth. Now what you must understand is that this move had a lot of potential. There was a decent amount of fighting in different places some wittyreferences, all around just the goofy fun you would expect from thisseries. However I don't feel that it lived up to the rest of the seriesit just seemed like there was a little too much whining and not enoughactual witty banter to even out with the rest of the series and as aresult it kind of made it monotone in comparison. Still greatperformances where they could have been done but not up to my standard.5/10 because thats how I felt about it.

far better than 2

Free falling, time travel, interesting linkage, Men in Black 3 is theanswer you have been waiting for when we wondered what good will comeof the MIB now when MIB 2 was a flop? Will smith pitched the idea ofMIB 3 to director Barry Sonnenfeld during the shooting of MIB 2 theidea was creating a back story for Agent K which will feature Agent Jgoing back in time.Director Barry Sonnenfeld worked on the idea and with Steven Spielbergback as Executive Producer MIB 3 is one movie I will be seeing again.Josh Brolin plays young Agent K in 1969, he did such a great job at ityou'll believe you are watching K himself. Shooting was done in NewYork and it began in 2010.This cliff hanging action packed movie tells a tale of what happenswhen you arrest instead of killing the villain. An alien nicked-namedBoris the animal broke out of his prison (with the help of (NicoleScherzinger) and travels back in time to change history and kill theman that put him in jail.By doing the above he will achieve the destruction of the earth willand the death of Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones). So J (Will Smith) travels back in time to help Agent K (James Brolin)save the world again and also save his life.My high in all MIB movies is the alien characters; I have to applaudthe costumes designers and the CGI developers on that. Also look outfor the screenplay, as major events are happening on the screen at alltimes and there was never a dull moment.I like a movie with a good story depth, but here in MIB 3 the makershave one thing in mind...make a better MIB movie than the last one(Menin black two was a total blunder), you want story depth? Go watch MenIn Black 1.This MIB movie does not have all the whole faithful present no Frankthe pug, Jeebs or Zed.When it comes to a job well done, hey Will Smith has finally donesomething worthwhile in years. I am legend, Hankcock and Seven Poundswere his last movies before MIB 3 and they all lacked the things thatmade Will Smith a name to go queue up in the cinema for. Also a nicejob by the casting crew, James Brolin was the perfect man for YoungAgent K.There is talk of an MIB 4, I guess we will see. I employ you top go seethis movie.

Excellent - Definitely would watch it anytime.

I have been a fan of the Men in Black movies since the originalreleased in 1997. When MIB-II was finally out in 2002, I wondered whyit took so long as Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith seemed to work sowell together, and their characters had that just right mix ofcomplementing but contradicting personalities.Jones has long been a favorite of mine with some other highlightperformances being the delightfully crazy villain in Under Siege (1992)and the hard nosed cop in The Fugitive (1993) and U.S. Marshalls(1998). His ability to make a facial expression the equivalent of thepicture's 1000 words imho is up there with Humphrey Bogart.Smith has distinguished himself in action, comedy, and drama filmsalike. He is a quite versatile actor whose movies I will gladly checkout just because he is starring. With MIB 3 coming another 10 years after MIB II, I once again wonderwhat took so long. While Jones's part as "K" is not so prominent as inthe prior releases, he does well as the present day character. Smithfollows the formula as "J" although the interaction with old "K" is atad forced. The pleasant realization is that Josh Brolin performs admirably as thepast, younger "K." Brolin is certainly a fine actor in his own right, but his effective portrayal of Jones' character is nothing short ofremarkable. The key to the plot is that Brolin is "K" before whateverhappened that turned "K" into such a detached curmudgeon. Also juicy was the villain's part done by Jermaine Clement as Boris(the animal).Besides all the action and suspense you expect with the good guys vs.bad guy alien stuff, and the touches of comedy here and there to breakit up, there is a dramatic and quite poignant and touching twist thatcomes out of nowhere that answers why "K" appears to be such anunemotional person, and why "K" has such regard for "J." Top qualityactors and performances, well done script, yeah, this one's a keeper.

A big improvement on Men in Black 2... but no where near the high standards of the original MIB

I will say that it was a little bit better than I expected, the onlyproblem was, it seemed way to cheesy compared to the original Men inBlack. The opening tracking shot of the original Men in Black whichfollows a dragonfly that splats onto a car windshield is much better tothe unusual exposition of MIB3. In men in black 3, we follow a womanbringing a gift to Boris the Animal in a prison... which is on themoon. Now, I know Men in Black is unrealistic as it features all sortsof aliens and bugs, but having a prison on the moon, and then havingBoris just somehow appear on earth was just... way to out of thisworld. The original Men in Black intro had a much more serious tone andthe graphics actually seemed better back then. MIB3 is a warm welcome back for Bel Air's fresh prince, Will Smith. Hereturns to the screen as the Joke-Cracking agent J who works with hispartner agent K (Tommy Lee Jones). This film was also a nice return tocomedy for Tommy Lee Jones after appearing in many serious roles overthe last few years. As soon as they first appear on screen togetheragain, that chaotic chemistry flies and raises the films levels abovethe disappointing intro. After finishing a job at the world's weirdestseafood restaurant, K and J have an argument. In an unusual turn ofevents it is learnt that Boris the Animal has gone back in time andkilled Agent K preventing Boris from losing his arm. After finallydiscovering this, Agent J goes back in time in an attempt to preventthis from occurring. When he is in the 60's, J finally finds K... when he was younger, andthey couldn't have picked a better actor than Josh Brolin (It's like a'No Country for Old Men' reunion. Brolin does a fantastic job acting asa young Tommy Lee Jones. The seriousness, the facial expressions, thehurried monotone sentences, you could have sworn that the director'sactually went back in time! When smith is with Brolin, its different, its good. Smith tries to find out the roots of how K became the waythat he is, and it all comes down to a pretty unexpected result. An annoying characteristic involved in this film was Griffin (played byMichael Stuhlbarg). His character is bearable for about 5 minutes, andthen you just want him to leave, his predictions andfast-paced-high-pitched talking is so frustrating! Boris the animal isalso pretty annoying. The deep, grungy voice, the ugly black holes aseyes and weird-ass thing in his hand; it all is unexpectedly-strangeand... well it's just weird. It all boils down to a storyline whichmuddles about with time-travel to much by the end of it, and doesn'tfocus on the sort of elements that made the first Men in Black great! On the bright side, there are still many things that can be enjoyedabout this film. The small yet entertaining cameos from Bill Hader andWill Arnett and the fact that on the ALIEN WATCH monitors we see LadyGaga's and Justin Beiber's face. The Sci-Fi action scenes are okay, butI have definitely seen better Science-Fiction sequences scenes in olderfilms.Overall, it wasn't a total loss, it still manages to maintain itsentertainment factor but it definitely could be better. It towers over Men in Black 2 but falls down compared tothe original Men in Black

If you are expecting a fun, family friendly movie, this is not it.

I watched this movie thinking it was to be another fun Men in Blackmovie... Something that could be enjoyed by the whole family, young andold. I was wrong. Besides being boring (it may have picked up later inthe movie, but I stopped watching half way through), it was full ofracism, bad jokes and a dubious representation of the time most of themovie was set (the late 60s). Needless to say, I didn't laugh once andwas probably more annoyed than amused. The Fresh Prince has gotten old and I would have hoped Will Smithmatured beyond this kind of role. At 44 he's still acting like ajuvenile for the cameras. Still, it was ultimately the writers anddirector's responsibility to make the movie palatable for its targetaudience (??). It's been 10+ years since the first movie was released, you'd think they would have tried to mature Agent J's character alittle...or hire somebody younger to fill the role. Tommy Lee Jones was bland, but what would you expect? Etan Cohen andBarry Sonnenfeld are probably to blame most for this stinker, as theywrote and directed it. To summarize: If you are expecting a fun family friendly movie, this isnot it.

A Nice Finish with Feeling

It is a nice story line that ties many things together. It started outa little slow showing us were everyone is and there is a death in MIB.Things pick up after the funeral and keep moving until the end. As ateenager in NY in 1969 it was nice to see footage of the now demolishedShea Statium and the sets of the Apollo 11 launch. There are somesurprises that you need to see in the movie that I will not spoil. Thisis a must see and from my on feelings is this is the end of thisfranchise. You will see the old and newest "flashy thingy". It has someof the old standards with funny aliens with their own personnel quirks.Sit back and enjoy.

Closer to Men in Black 2 than Men in Black

Ten years after the disappointing Men in Black 2 and fifteen (really!)years since Men in Black, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are donningthe black suits and Ray-bans once again. Agent J (Smith) and Agent K(Jones) learn that the alien murdering Boris the Animal (JermaineClement) has escaped his maximum security LunarMax prison cell on theMoon, 43 years after K arrested him in Florida. Boris gets hold of atime machine and goes back to 1969 where he murders K. J has troubleunderstanding what has happened and goes back to 1969 himself where hemeets a younger K (Josh Brolin) and the two of them attempt toapprehend Boris before he kills K and sends an army to attack anddestroy the Earth.I'm a big fan of the first Men in Black film and will watch pretty muchanything Will Smith is in so I was excited at the prospect of a thirdinstalment of the franchise. Unfortunately I left disappointed. Qualitywise this is much closer to Men in Black 2 than Men in Black. My twomain problems were that it wasn't funny enough and that it was reallyboring. Will Smith is a naturally funny man and has bags of charismabut here his jokes fall flat and he doesn't seem cool enough. JermaineClement, who I travelled over 400 miles round trip to see perform aspart of Flight of the Concords was also a little bit disappointingalthough his accent was very good he was neither funny or scary enough.I only laughed twice and these were both at jokes regarding thediffering racial attitudes of the 60s and now. As for the story, yesthere are alien bad guys and the threat of the Earth's destruction andthe time travelling stuff was good but I wasn't gripped.Where the film is successful is with the addition of Josh Brolin. Hedoes a fantastic Tommy Lee Jones impression, getting the voice andmannerisms down to a tee. He injects a bit of life into the story ashis K is slightly (very slightly) more at ease than Jones'sincarnation. I also thought that the character called Griffin played byMichael Stuhlbarg was brilliant and I'd happily have sat through awhole film about him. Also, as I said the time travelling stuff wasgood and they managed to avoid either making it too complicated or fullof holes. If anything it was all a bit simplified and too spelt out.Another thing I appreciated is that the film didn't go over board inits 1960ness. It didn't bombard you with jokes and characters and feltmuch more natural. The CGI is very good although I felt that it was relied on a bit tooheavily. I've always though that Men in Black is at its best when itshuman characters were on screen and sometimes it felt like they werelooking for excuses to show off their CGI aliens. Anotherdisappointment is getting to the closing credits and discovering thatSmith isn't rapping. Instead it's someone called Pitbull with aterrible song.In the end there isn't enough in Men in Black 3 to warrant a sequel andit doesn't come close to matching the original. The action is slow anddull and there are very few laughs but there are some goodperformances, especially from Brolin and Stuhlbarg and it's nice to seeJ and K back again. That being said, I don't think there is a need forMen in Black 4.www.attheback.blogspot.com

men in black 3 review

Men in Black I liked the humour and the special effects. This filmwould appeal to adults and young adults. The plot is about alienstrying destroy the earth and will smith is trying to stop them. Will Smith- he did act very well.He has great comic timing and hisfacial expressions have to be seen to be believed. Tommy Lee Jones- hedid a brilliant job. The special effects where very cool. I liked Boristhe animal the best because I liked how he pulled the small spider outof his hand. There were also some fantastic scenes involving a rocketand an interesting twist in the plot towards the end of the film. Yes Iwould recommend this film to my family and friends to watch this film.

Back in Style

It's been nearly 4 years since Will Smith appeared on the big screenand an even longer time since the last Men In Black sequel (2002 ifmemory serves me right) but here they are, back in style. While it may have been some time since Will Smith's acted in an actionfilm (where he should stay, in my opinion), he proves that he's stillgot it in the third part of the memorable MIB franchise. He pulls offthe wise-ass Agent J perfectly (just like old times) and he didn't failto amuse me over the course of the film's running time. The whole castdid their parts well (especially Boris) but it was Josh Brolin whosurprised me; the man was the spitting image of a younger Tommy LeeJones. He pulled it off so well I honestly thought there had to be somesort of CGI magic or dubbing done but no, it was all Brolin and hepulled off a younger Agent K good. My only problem was that Tommy LeeJones, who's as important to the franchise as Will Smith is, barely gotenough screen time. Yes, it's part of the story that J meets a youngerK and yes, Tommy Lee Jones is getting a bit too old for these kinds ofmovies but I just miss seeing him alongside Will Smith for an entireMIB movie. This however, does little to hinder the film's enjoymentfactor. The story is well written. Time travel is one of the more complicatedstory devices to use since if messed up, plot holes will appeareverywhere. Thankfully, the movie writers took their time (10 years isno joke for both fans and producers), edited the crap out of theirdrafts and ended up with a good time travel movie along with a nicesurprise ending. As usual, the comedic banter between mostly everybodyand Agent J was done well but everybody gets to say something wittythat isn't out of place in the story's setting. What really got me wasthe emotional factor that was added into the leads' partnership. Sure,we've seen them fight aliens and save the world in the past two moviesbut it's only now their partnership has become this emotional. Part 3of the MIB series returns to the series roots and uses what made part 1so great in the first place; a healthy balance of action, sci-fi,comedy and emotional content. The CGI, to some, would look outdated (and to some extent it is) butthis wasn't a problem for me. Instead, what the CGI did was usher in afeeling of nostalgia since it really looks like something from the late90's when movies were just starting to incorporate computer graphics.Though for an MIB movie, there were surprisingly few aliens but that'sjust a minor problem. I guess that this time around, the story wasreally centered on the two main characters and not so much on whatmakes the universe so weird and cool (though I do miss the talkingdog). Again, I dodged the 3D screening so I can't say anything aboutthe 3D version.MIB3 is a good watch; it returns to the series' roots and not onlysucceeds in making a movie so reminiscent of what made the 90's actionfilms so great (balanced comedy, action and drama... and no fancycamera tricks like "shaky cam") but also threw in a new dynamic betweenthe two main characters. I'm not sure if this will usher in a part four(and part 3 feels a bit like a series finale to me but that's just myopinion) but if it does, I hope the writers, again, take their time inperfecting the script since even if part 3 took an entire decade ofwaiting, it was well worth the wait.

Time Travel can be Funny Too

While watching Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones reprising their roles asagents J and K, respectively, one maniac and fast-talking and the otherwith a face of I'm-doing-this-only-for-the-paycheck, I was thinkingabout a family that is invited to stay in for a couple of days withsome friends but after 1 month they have overstayed their welcome. Butthen, Agent J travels to the past and somehow everything was better inthe world, much better. The plot: There is a secret government organization that monitorsextraterrestrial life on earth on a daily basis, protecting humans sothey can go on with their normal lives. When one extraterrestrial namedBoris "the Animal" escapes from the Lunar Prison, he uses and inventionfrom one inmate to travel to the past, kill agent K and several yearslater conquer Earth. As Agent J is the only one aware of this(explained with a sweet scene that comes until the end), it's hismission to travel back in time and save agent K and the Earth. The Actors: Will Smith continues using all his charisma and bravura tomake this a funny character, although his incessant complaint to agentK about not being open with his feelings is too much and boarding onthe stupid and needy. Tommy Lee Jones thankfully has few scenes causeis clear that he is getting tired of the role. But the real revelationis Josh Brolin, who as Agent K from 1969, makes a great Tommy Lee Jonesimpersonation and gives the character a much needed light heart. Hecarries the past part and thanks to him the movie doesn't feel like arehash of the previous two movies. The Good: As I wrote before, once the movie takes the leap to the past, everything begins to fall into place and moves at a greater pace. Welearn that Agent K is investigating several alien killings (done byBoris) and meets an Arcadian that gives him an Arcnet to stop Boris'srace from conquering earth. Although the past could have been used moreto enhance the difference in the society (you know, Agent J is blackand is walking around like he owns the place) there are several jokesthat have a good use, like meeting agent W as Andy Warhol and hebegging to be "killed" because he can't stand the frivolous life:"filming this man eating a hamburger. It's transcendent". The Arcadianis also an interesting character, he can see all the possible futuresof a situation and shows his powers in some key moments. The specialeffects are OK, Boris is threatening and funny in occasions and thelaunch of the first mission that set foot on the moon is used as theclimax. If you like the humor in the Men in Black movies, you will like thisone, there is nothing new, surprising or profound, but the movie isreally entertaining once we get to 1969. At the beginning I wasn'texpecting very much but by the end I was laughing and was interested onhow all would take place so I think the movie did a great job ofredeeming itself.

A Time Tale of Two undercover agents!

A drag into the plot had proved sufficient enough to hold the nerve ofthe audience. Creepiness in the very beginning of the film strikes thegist of the film, provided for the nutty girls screaming next to meduring the time of the show! Its a Will Smith show! Low and behold one can easily get the humor inhis character and the timing of the jokes and manipulation of hischaracter was good. This third installment is a sort of "Struck withluck when Stuck in work" kind of thing for him indeed. Josh Borlin andTommy Lee Jones, two look-alike,act-alike,speak-alike personalities didadd the essence and fragrance. Compared to the second installment, decade ago, the obscure plot was slightly smudging the transparency ofthe full length film. Provided the action and comedy clubbed togetherone can feel at ease and jot down "it was fun while it lasted".The break in the space-time continuum, the crazy nemesis Boris and hisarm, an agent K, with boyish looks- grab you to a new step from thenormal mode of fabrication of the MIB series. Despite of a few goofs, the film is good enough to be a day's replenishing errand. its a visiontreat. Nevertheless this could be your light- hearted unforgettableweekend
