Plot Summary:
NTSFSDSUV, also known as the National Terrorism Strike Force San Diego Sport Utility Vehicle, is a clandestine team of government agents working together to protect San Diego from numerous terrorist threats coming in daily from such evil countries as Mexico, Canada, Guam and more. This team of highly trained operatives has only one job saving your ass so you can drive your Prius and see your movies in 3-D without worrying about living in a country run by no-good terrorists. As with many other acronym-ed police procedurals that dominate the airwaves, NTSFSDSUVs season of 15-minute episodes is ripped from the headlines and full of suspense, action, drama, cliffhangers, yelling, passionate love-making, more yelling, death and plenty of pregnant pauses. NTSFSDSUV is created by Paul Scheer and stars Scheer, Rebecca Romijn, Rob Riggle, Kate Mulgrew, Brandon Johnson, June Diane Raphael, Martin Starr and S.A.M., the first sentient robot on television. Guest stars include Jeff Goldblum, Jerry OConnell, Gabrielle Union, Adam Scott, JK Simmons, Wilmer Valderama, Moon Bloodgood and many more. Also, in their first role, a fleet of gas-guzzling SUVs with full accessories and leather packages. NTSFSDSUV is produced by Abominable Pictures, Inc. Paul Scheer and Jonathan Stern are executive producers. Curtis Gwinn is co-executive producer. Series premieres Thursday, July 21 at 1215 a.m. (ETPT) on Adult Swim.

It's meant to be a spoof!Okay if you want "serious" then go watch Bones/CSI/NCIS/etc, however asa couple of the reviewers haven't really sussed out, then I will pointout that this is a complete mickey take of those shows! The clichéd lines, the impossible way that crimes are solved using"Real" science, and the fact that the scientific people are drop deadgorgeous, but "no-one sees it" are all are up for attack in thisseries. The actors seem to enjoy themselves, and ham up their parts more thanPorky Pig, which adds to the fun. It's not an inditement into Modern Criminology, nor is it meant to bean in-depth study of characters and their actions, but it is a greatspoof on the shows which try to pretend they are, and as a bonus youshould really listen to what S.A.M. says. |

So much potential, but all of it missedIn an age where satire thrives in such forms as The Colbert Report andThe Onion, I had great hopes for this show. Discovering an all-star(even if they are B-list) cast only elevated that expectation. But, aswas already insightfully observed by another reviewer, this is morelike a bad youtube sketch than good comedy. Satire doesn't work without an understanding by the writer of thesubject to be parodied. Referencing certain clichés isn't the samething. Throwing in behavior that is completely inappropriate for thesubject, like agents shooting anything that moves, takes thiscompletely out of the realm of satire and lands it squarely in thedomain of mindless comedy like Jackass and Fox News. The great irony here, perhaps providing the only real comedy in theentire production, is that creator Paul Scheer is also the host of thepopular podcast, "How Did This Get Made?" Paul, it's a good thingyou're the host of that show, as that's the only insurance you have tokeep this show off of that one. Seriously, this makes Scary Movie look like Young Frankenstein. Again, as another reviewer put it, the only funny thing here is thetitle. From there the jokes proceed swiftly downhill. |

Hilarious CSI spoof.I love this show.Crime dramas like CSI and NCIS have been ripe for parody for a longtime, and this show is absolutely spot-on.In San Diego, a crack team of law enforcers fight crime using excessiveforce, absurd scientific equipment, and a garage full of expensiveSUVs.The characters are all totally clichéd, from the gun-toting,shades-wearing leading man (Paul Scheer) the hard-boiled and one eyedagency chief (Captain Janeway herself, Kate Mulgrew) to the geekyscience tech played by Rebecca Romijn - that's right, I said RebeccaRomijn!!! There's nothing subtle about the humour here, it's all prettypurile and ridiculous, but it's well written and delivered with deadlyseriousness by all the cast.If you enjoy the likes of Archer or Sealab, this is probably for you... |
