Ted's DeadPossibly the least funny 'comedy' I've ever had to sit through, whichwas a shock for me, since the creators of Family Guy, a show I love, were involved.I think this entire movie falls on its own rump if the novelty of aswearing, weed-smoking teddy bear wears off at any point. For me ittook about five minutes. After that it was just a slew of simple, crude 'jokes' that never hittheir mark due to their reliance on the teddy-bear vehicle. The bear itself was an irritating character, completely unlikable inevery regard, and what was up with Mark Wahlbergs' accent? Are therereally Americans with dialects as ridiculous as that? It sounded likehe was chewing words rather than saying them. All in all, juvenile, and not even funny with it. |

Hilariously creativeSometimes you know you are going to hate a movie the minute it starts. When TED started, those were my feelings. The movie starts with a fairytale kind-of narration of a boy's wish which makes his teddy bear cometo life, Ted. By this time I was sure I was going to hate this movie.Teddy Bears usually have an image of being cute cuddly and somethingthat you relate to kids. This movie changes that image in a humorousway. In the next scene the teddy and the boy (John) are all grown up.Both have a mature adult voice, they smoke pod, they talk dirty andstill live together. There is something hilarious about a 'Teddy Bear'swearing on the big screen. The movie is all about how the friendship of John (Mark Wahlberg) andTed (Teddy bear) comes between John's love life. John and Ted have agreat bond and are awesome together, and so is the pair of John and hisgirl-friend Lori (Mila Kunis). John finds it hard to let go of eitherof them and ends up fighting with Ted and kicking him out of hisapartment. What I liked about the movie was the imagination of bringing a bear tolife and changing the role of him from just being a kid's play toy. Tedis hilariously funny and his friendship with John is naturallyentertaining. Also the chemistry between John and Lori is very charmingand real. You will definitely enjoy these two as much you enjoy theother two.My suggestion: Don't miss Ted; he will make you Laugh your AO! But besure to not take your kids with you, this is *not* a kids movie. |

Family Guy: I love BostonIf there is something I discovered opening day of Ted: do notunderestimate Family Guy and American Dad fans. Seth MacFarlane has abigger fan base than I thought, not to say I didn't know that he wasn'tfamous, just didn't realize how big he was. When I saw the trailer forTed, I knew my fiancé would love this movie, he always tells me aboutwhat I missed on the new episode of Family Guy or American Dad or TheCleveland Show. I'm the average watcher of Family Guy, I'll watch acouple episodes that re-run on TBS at night, and of the three, I'llfind one bad, one OK and one absolutely hilarious. In Ted, the jokesjust keep coming at you, for every one that misses, the next one is ahit. This was made directly for the fans of MacFarlane's humor. Afterall, the poster does say "from the creator of Family Guy" and the castis mostly a typical work day for MacFarlane. But over all, Ted doeswork as a comedy that I'm sure you could get a kick out of.In 1985, in Boston, John Bennett is a lonely child who dearly wishedfor his new Christmas gift, a large teddy bear named Ted, to come tolife to be his friend. That wish coincided with a falling star and Tedis brought to life. After John's parents got over the shock, word ofthe miracle spread and Ted was briefly a celebrity. Twenty-seven yearslater, John and Ted are still lazy but loving companions enjoying lifeeven while John is pursuing a years-long relationship with alevel-headed office worker, Lori. As their fourth anniversary of theirrelationship approaches, Lori hopes to marry John, but she feels hecan't move ahead with his life with Ted around, who has become avulgar, obnoxious wastrel. John is resistant to making his lifelongcompanion leave, but he is finally persuaded that night to act when thecouple discover Ted at home with four prostitutes. Ted is fine at firston his own, but still wants John to still party with him causingproblems in his relationship once again.Like the shows, there are some jokes that seem to go too far. I don'tmind 9/11 jokes every once in a while, but MacFarlane just throws a fewout there and some are a little too much. His relationship with MarkWahlberg in the film is similar to the relationship between Peter andBrian on Family Guy. And sort of in the spirit of Kevin Smith, who isan obvious fan of Star Wars, MacFarlane is a fan of the 80's and istrying to bring a B-Movie back, Flash Gordon. However, I can't denythat I seriously did laugh quite a few times with this movie. We have agood comedic cast that works and one of the things I really appreciateon MacFarlane's part as a writer is that he didn't make Mila Kunis'character a one-note jerk girlfriend who everyone hates. You understandher character and even Mark Wahlberg's. Heck, he even makes Ted, abear, very believable as a friend who is still stuck in the party modein life and takes his best friend down with him. There are two villainsin here, one is a large child and his dad who will DO ANYTHING to makehim happy, almost like Silence of the Lambs style, this dad is justplain creepy. The effects for Ted were great and the story, despitebeing predictable, was still very decent. I got a few good laughs fromit and would say that it is very much worth the watch. If you're theaverage viewer of the shows of MacFarlane, I think you'll like it too.If you're a die hard fan, there's no question that you're going to loveTed.7/10 |

Haven't we seen this movie before?I'm not sure what I was expecting walking into Ted. I found therestricted trailer to be funny and creative and I do enjoy Family Guyevery now and than but something in the back of my mind just keptsaying eh, are you really sure you wanna see this? Well I should havefollowed my instincts because despite some inspired moments Ted is justthat eh, it was okay. The film centers on a friendless young boy whomakes a wish for his teddy bear to come to life. And well it does. 27yrs. later the young boy has grown into Mark Wahlberg and has agirlfriend and well Ted has grown as well into a pot smoking, foulmouthed, crude best friend that hardly ever leaves it side. The wholefairy tale thing taken to a realistic place is inspired and could havebeen very funny. Instead don't be fooled this is one of those filmswhere the main character is a big child and has to grow up before hisgirlfriend leaves him. Ugh, not again. Surprisingly enough it's in it'sdramatic scenes when the film is most effective sure there are a fewinspired comedy bits the hotel fight was great but most of the jokesfall completely flat. Like the whole flash Gordon reference, aprostitute who defecates on the living room floors and Ted having sexwith a turnip and the checkout girl. In fact although I'm not easilyoffended I couldn't help but be by some of the irresponsible humor inthis film. The whole gay underground beat up subplot was insulting andunhelpful to the struggling gay community and some of the jokes just goto far like this whole father and son creep acting just comes offdisturbing. That being said I have to give credit where it's due andMark Wahlberg is a hell of an actor he completely commits himself towhatever role he's playing, Mila Kunis is likable and beautiful as hislove interest and the CGI Ted is quite impressive. Never once did Ifeel like it wasn't real when watching the film even though I wascontinuously rolling my eyes. So all in all Ted is just another crude, forgettable comedy with a creative spin on it's premise yes but thesame old man child movie we've been watching for years. Also I hatethat they insulted Superman Returns I loved that film and unlike thisone that was critically acclaimed. |

Funny but lacking somethingTed is one of those films that you really want to love, but it doesn'tquite get you there. The funniest thing about this movie is Ted'stoilet humor which is consistent throughout. The romantic plot thatsurrounds this humor seems only fit to please a female audience andtransfer this flick from a stoner / hangover movie into something moremeaningful. But it really doesn't need to be! To be honest if we hadmore of Mark Wahlberg and Ted's antics throughout I'd give this movie a9/10! Mila Kunis' character is slightly confused in her convictions andplays an annoying over bearing girlfriend whose only role is to smotherher boyfriend and take away from what is actually funny about thismovie: TED! |

The Perfect Human (2013-05-17 10:06:44) |
"Ted", a ghastly misfire from a once-great comedian. How deeply saddening it is to know that alcoholic, pot-smoking,sex-obsessed CGI teddy bears have now struck an all-time high in thefrustrating, inconsistent world of modern comedic efforts. "Ted" isless a comedic emerald than a bad episode of Family Guy, nevertheless,it will surely reel in undeserved hundreds of millions of dollars fromthe lumbering, monotonous Frankenstein's Monster that is the generalAmerican consumers spectrum. Though not a total travesty, it is stillclearly a complete misfire from MacFarlane, appears to believe thatcreating full scale bizarreness will evoke some sort of belly-graspinghilarity. In the case of a repetitive embodiment of tedium like "Ted",such a method is grossly unsuccessful. The plot has potential, there's no denying that. But when mishandled inthe way it is by SMF, it does nothing more than fall over its feet inits failed attempts to win you over with its overblownpseudo-cleverness. When he was a boy, Mark Bennett made a wish, a wishto bring his newly bought teddy bear to life. The next morning, heawakens to discover that his bear, "Ted", is alive and well. After manymonths in the spotlight, Ted's greatness is eventually forgotten, andhe and Mark share a normal, fun-filled upbringing. Flash forward tomodern times, Ted is jobless, and living with Mark in he and girlfriendLori's apartment. Lori threatens to move out if Mark does not evictTed, whom she feels is destroying their relationship. Various mishapsand narrative twists proceed."Ted" has everything that MacFarlane's enormous network of "Family Guy"fans can imagine; there's lame hooker jokes, lame 9 11 jokes, lameAsian jokes, lame sex jokes and lame fat kid jokes. And so much more, including a very odd, very stretched joke highlighting MacFarlane'sseemingly random infatuation with Tom Skerritt, whom he has referred tomultiple times before in his cartoons (don't ask me why). For the mostpart, the humour here is quite painful, and cringeworthily indifferentto the tired material utilised in his TV shows. There is "Ted"insulting an overweight child actor with such side-splitting one-linerslike "Back off Susan Boyle", Ted getting high, Ted making aself-reference to the laziness of his voice work, (which sounds almostidentical to Family Guy's main character), and cameos from threecelebrities, what more could you ask for!? There is, I will admit, pieces of genuine funniness in here. At times, it feels like the old, talented Seth MacFarlane is back from retirement. The first 5 minutesor so that open the film feels like the film's strongest asset bymiles, such belief however, that you will be in for a slice ofintelligent, uncumbrous cinema is quick to be proved false as the filmsharply descends into inarticulate absurdity, and stays that way. However, when MacFarlane is funny, he's spot-on, the comedy that doeswork here works marvellously, but when the occasional successful jokedoes appear, it usually takes the form of an unsustaining sentence orone-liner, it doesn't last, quick to be interrupted by dull shards ofadult slapstick.Whatever happened to Seth MacFarlane anyway? Where did he go wrong? There was a time when he provided an extraordinary liberation from thelargely sanitized, flailing world of animation. He did so by bringingus "Family Guy", an initially brilliant show that reigned as one of thekings of comedy on television, until now... It must have been about twoor three seasons ago, when they modified the show's opening sequence, when the ridiculously entertaining, wickedly smart show we had knownand loved for years gave way to view-baiting and Meg jokes. Suddenly,it was a lifetime apart from the gift to television it had once been, with heartbreaking descendance into ready-made controversy, insufferable cliché, and general unfunniness prevailing. At this point, the worst thing any ex Family Guy fan could do was to turn inhopefulness to "American Dad", where things were going worse than ever, still the boring dud it had always been. Whether MacFarlane's suddendownfall came about unintentionally by a random lapse/breakdown ofcreativity or an intentional effort to heighten flailing ratings Icouldn't say.I do not have an awful lot to say about "Ted". It feels like SethMacFarlane's current creative state personified, that is, intentionallyprovoking, drab, humourless, and worst of all, lame. There's justnothing here that's worthy of any filmic merit. The vast majority ofthe jokes are stillborn ,with something pleasing being occasionallythrown in amongst the mess. The acting is fine, although certainlynothing special, with Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis playing the troubledcouple easily, though insignificantly, and Patrick Stewart bringingsome light as the ominous narrator, and Giovanni Ribisi standing out asTed's pursuer. None of the film's positive sides mean anything, nothingconnects, they're just occasional glimpses of the great man who oncewas. While safely not the worst film of 2012, a fascinating,thought-provoking year in film, it goes without saying that it is the mostdisappointing. Perhaps this film could have worked as a TV special, perhaps if animated, the mind-numbingly monotonous slabs of repetitiveschtick could have been placed in an episode of the tattered remains ofwhat was once "Family Guy". But not on film. Cinematic comedy has moreexacting standards. |

Amazing movieI put that my review has spoilers, but will try not to spoil this moviefor anyone. This movie is exactly what I expected it to be. If you like what yousee in the trailers, you will love this movie. I have not written areview in quite awhile on IMDb but this movie has to be seen. I havenot laughed so hard in a theater since the first Hangover came out. Iwas lucky to be able to see an advanced screening of Ted tonight andcannot wait for it to hit theaters. I will definitely go see it a fewmore times for sure. The movie centers on Ted obviously, but all of the little things makethis movie so good. Giovanni Ribisi was fantastic as acreepy-teddy-bear-stalking freak. Aedin Mincks (Young Alan in HangoverII) was just as good playing the junior stalker. The background music, what toys the kids opened on Christmas in 1985, everything contributedto the feel of this movie. Even Patrick Stewart detailing the abilitiesof an Apache helicopter was hilarious. If you have a chance, see this movie. Twice. Or three times. You willnot regret it. |

Congratulations Seth!Ted is just funny and clever! Featuring Family Guy creator, SethMacfarlane making his first ever motion picture, and playing the titlecharacter. How I find Ted was funny, Seth was great at voicing him,he'd almost sounded like Peter Griffin, I was laughing uncontrollablyat the part where he sing with a karaoke machine using how people sangin the 90s and then just vowels, that and the bits where he insults thebad guy, Donny's, chubby son, Robert ("Oh, oh, I hear the fat kidrunning! I hear the fat kid running! I bet it sound hilarious!" & "Now,hang on a sec there, Your dad wants to show good manners, right,uh....Tubby McFat****?,"). Some of the characters were funny andcharming and some can sometimes be a bully (mostly Rex), featuring MarkWalburg as well as Mila Kunis and Patrick Walburg (who also did voicesfor the characters from "Family Guy"). Also I would like tocongratulate & wish Seth luck for being the host of The 85th academyawards. Besides the humor I've nearly cried at the seen where Ted dies.I've actually enjoyable and also Seth Macfarlane is such a charmingcomedian!10/10 |

Don't wast your money on this rubbish! There is NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING even remotely good, funny, entertaining or likable about this film! I found it to be boring, tedious, dreadful, and a chore to watch as I forced myself to see it tothe end after having paid to watch it. I wasn't going to waste my moneyby deleting it from the hard drive on my P. V. R part way through thefilm! I'm going to do you readers a massive favour and tell you allwhat happens at the end so that you don't end up wasting your time andmoney watching this drivel! I cannot find any redeeming feature in thisfilm! No, I tell a lie there is one and only one, and that is theclever way Ted has been made to look real. It's a tale about an eight years old boy who had no friends that wasthrilled to get a stuffed cuddly bear as a Christmas present. Oncereceived he then wished for it to come to life and so it did. Now asfar as I can tell, in a prosperous country such as American and in amiddle-class neighbourhood such as John Barratt was in the last thingan eight years old boy would be thrilled to receive is a stuffed teddybear! Any way he got it, he made the wish, it came to life and becamefamous but didn't earn anything from being famous. that all happenedpre credits. during the credits there is a montage of them growing upto adulthood and him in a job which even though he is always late forit and is hardly ever there he is still in line for a promotion. I wishI could find a job like that! Time and time again the bear ruins John'srelationship with his girlfriend causing them to eventually split up.the two get drawn back together when they go chasing after Ted who hasbeen kidnapped by a creepy man that is obsessed with him. The manwanted him for his son and after hearing Ted make a phone call to Johntakes Ted on a car trip. John and his now ex girlfriend Lori are in thecar together on their final time together when the call is receivedwork out where Ted is and head over to the house. As they get closerthey see Ted in the man's car and give chase to a football stadium. Thecreepy man chases Ted up a stadium light stand and as he grabs hold ofTed's foot. On pulling Ted down ted is torn in two and his stuffingcomes out. At this point I was so hoping the film would end but nothere was still more rubbish to come. John and Lori grabbed all of thebits rushed home with him and stitched him back together. Guess whowished him back to life? Yes that's right Lori! The person whose lifehe had effectively ruined for the last four years by her boyfriendalways putting the bear before her. the one that on coming back fromtheir four year anniversary dinner to find a turd on the floor claimedit was there courtesy of one of the three very attractive ladies he wassitting on the sofa with! The film is too awful and how it managed to do so well at the boxoffice is beyond my comprehension! There are lots of appalling filmsthat do do well at the box office leaving me struggling to work outwhy. As far as this film goes and the Internet Movie Data Basereviewers and rater go there are only 2.7 percent of people that havetaste and know what decent, funny comedy is! |

The funniest film with a CGI main character since Paul!I just saw this film today, and I was absolutely dying of laughter inthe cinema! This film is just hilarious! I can't remember the last timeI laughed so hard in the cinema. Not bad for Seth MacFarlane's firstfilm, he did an excellent job! The storyline was well thought-out andvery funny, also quite touching near the end. The acting was good, especially Seth playing the role of Ted, who looks almost entirelyrealistic in CGI. Overall, I loved this film! I highly recommend thisfilm to any people who are fans of Family Guy! If you like Family Guy,you're gonna LOVE this! My final rating for Ted: A definite 10 fullstars out of 10! |

Childish, crude for no reason, could have been so much betterI can't stand Seth MacFarlane so I guess I am to blame for not reallyliking this movie. As with other MacFarlane entities this one has thesame non sequitur, completely random head scratching references injokes that just fall flat. It's not that I don't get them, its justthat they don't fit the context. At one point Ted the Bear sets up hisown joke just to use a Pink Floyd lyric reference in which he actuallyhas to say it's from PF so that the 90% of the people in the audiencewho didn't memorize The Wall are somewhat informed. The entire movie iscircled around the Flash Gordon movie from 1980, which is real topical, and I'm sure most of the lines go right over anyone's head under age35.There is so much cursing in this it's becomes awkward, I could seepeople squirming at the disgusting jokes, which I have no problem withas long as they are funny, these weren't. Many homophobic and anti-Semitic references for some reason, more nervous laughter from theaudience.I actually felt like leaving I was so bored. About 3 funny jokes in thewhole thing and one of those was a fart. There was a fat couple sittingnear me who laughed out loud all through the last 15 min of the movie,at what I don't know. Maybe they dropped acid before the show. Theseare he same people who keep Family Guy on the air.Not for kids under 15. |

A Fantasy Comedy, for laugh a lot. Not for realistic people. The movie in general is a piffle for laugh a lot; so don't expect asuper-production. Just think of the director of this movie, wasting histime, doing this prank, and you will laugh a lot. It's not the bestcomedy out there but is very funny. But take in mind that this is not a comedy for realistic people. If youexpect to see a movie about our real world, this is NOT for you. Inthat case, I recommend you something like "Bridesmaids (2011)".Ted is hilarious, is fantastic. Although, the whole movie is a prank,it's a big joke for people who doesn't has anything to do, trust me.But it depends on your personality, if you laugh or not. If you havethis kind of humor sense, and a piffle can entertain you for a while, then you will laugh for a good while.I would give it a better rate, if the movie would have had a betterend. I didn't like the end, seriously.I'm waiting for Ted 2, and I hope that would be for a wider public.Although, I'm sure that Ted 2 would be a very anticipated movie, because Ted let a lot to talk about it. |

Vastly inferiorI'll admit that it's somewhat unfair to compare a movie to a TV show, since there is simply no way to fit the same amount of material into somuch less time. However, if you strip away all content, you're leftwith something pointless, which is what I feel has happened in thisadaptation. This movie lacks completely the depth and interest of the American TVshow The FAMILY MAN, instead making this a shallow and frankly dullromantic comedy - without much romance or comedy. The characters lackdefinition and drive, and the story is simply *pretty boy + pretty girlinevitably leads to pretty love*, without anything to make itinteresting. The original source, and the excellent US TV adaptation, is a verydifferent type of story. They speak of loneliness, outsidership, compromise and partnership, and do it well.Ted appears to have nothing to say beyond the usual cache of fartjokes, and writing this I realize it has left me in much the samepredicament. The movie is boring, the characters empty, and there is nostory to speak of. Do yourselves a favor and watch The FAMILY MAN |

Don't bring the kids, bring a bong!Ted is an awesome film.Young John Bennet wishes that his Teddy Bear could be his best friendforever. He gets that wish: a walking, talking, living Teddy Bear. Thisis them as adults: pot-smoking underachievers, with gorgeousgirlfriends who love them for their personalities.STORY: 4 out of 5The story is a bit familiar. We've seen the best buddy comedy before. However, we've never seen it with a talking Teddy Bear who smokes potand drives. The characters are set up very well, and we get to feel for thesepeople. While many movies blast through scenes, trying to get to someclimactic point, this movie takes its time -- but not too much time --and lets us feel these people and relate to them. The couple is already together, so we don't have to suffer through abudding romance movie again. However, the romance gets in the way ofthe friendship between Ted and John, which is what the movie is reallyabout.I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's for lovers of Family Guy / American Dad,it's for lovers of Stoner flicks and comedy. GO WATCH TED!!!WARNING Warning: this film is not for everyone. Do not take your kids. This is an R-Rated movie dealing with drugs, hookers, creepy fanatics, creepy bosses, and sex in public. On top of that, there is a lot ofstrong language and sexual references. |

Farts and Poop = Yuk YukIt seems utterly useless to complain about the current moderninfatuation with flatulence and poop. Last week there was an entireBoB's Burgers (Animated Fox TV) episode about "The Mad Pooper". MacFarlane's The Family Guy (Animated Fox TV) has been a mainstay onSunday night for over a decade and frequently uses such toilet stuffand on and on. So there must be a market for this boring andrepetitious yuk. But one just has to ask. How many times can hearing afart or seeing a pile of poop get a laugh? So it is there not for a laugh, but for shock. A cringe. A way toembarrass those who think this kind of stuff is disgusting. To separateyou from them (like a kid's club). Anyway back to Ted. If every fartand poop joke and scene were removed from this movie; would it still beas funny? Absolutely. What, if anything, did the scene with the hookertaking a dump in the living room accomplish? Absolutely nothing. It is a kind of charming, clever, interesting, infantile comedy, ormaybe sophomoric would be more appropriate. There is enough here toentertain and as always the creator's sharp Pop Culture wit is amazing. The movie is so good when it's good but when it's bad it stinks. But here it is. Obsessed with the anus. So it is infantile. For that itis quite a disappointment, not just here but in a all of its modernmarketing. So if you are up for it, hold your nose and take a chance. |

When You Wish Upon A Star...Turned On Its Ear!One has to wonder that it is quite hard to make a truly funny"conventional" comedy movie, so how on earth can a non-animated movieabout a walking-talking teddy bear succeed? This stuff works fairlywell for a certain kind of audience when it's animated as directorMacFarlane's "The Family Guy" has shown, but with live performances, and no animation, one would think the pitfalls to be insurmountable. That said, the fact "Ted" succeeds in an even more mainstream way thanMacFarlane's previous productions is a pleasant surprise. The movie is rich in satire and detail (the kind in which you'll catchadditional humorous connections with second and third viewings), buthas a real beating heart underneath the veneer of its uniquecombination of raunchy humor and political incorrectness (most willlikely be at least somewhat offended at some point) - which is pureMacFarlane! The jokes are continuous and the wit is sharp enough toblot out the occasional dead-spots. Beyond the writing though it wouldstill likely be impossible to achieve such a level of success if itwere not for the cast. Simply put, the cast is uniformly excellent –like an ensemble with great chemistry. Plus, outside of the outrageousTed there's the great device of the Patrick Stewart narration whichtreats the story as if it is a heart string pulling Disney family movie– until it veers into the profane, but laughable.Ted is even more over-the top than you'd expect in a come-to-life hardpartying 30-something slacker teddy bear. Ted is actually a sweetheartunderneath the smart-ass exterior. How the directors managed to makeTed look as real as the actors is for lack of a better description, amazing. Playing out the love story sub-plot, Mark Wahlberg and MilaKunis certainly have that special something commonly called on-screenchemistry. They have to make it work because they are a couple that issimply meant to be and the viewer feels something for them. Add thefantastic characters they're surrounded by and the sum total is moviethat manages to combine ribald humor with heartwarming story telling inthe most unconventional sense. This movie blazes its own totally uniquepath. If you like comedies and are not easily offended it is an easyrecommendation because it is certainly the best comedy of 2012. Plus, nice seeing Tom Skerrit back...He, he! |

I'm not looking at your funny businessWell, since almost everyone I know had already seen this picture, as itbecame very famous in Brazil, I decided to give it a chance. As manypeople had advised me, this is surely a very American comedy, with somemale chauvinist messages, so if you're a woman you won't probably enjoythis as much as your boyfriend. Characters are well developed, and itis good to see such a pretty woman in the main couple. Even thoughtstory is at many times corny, and you feel like it's just another dumbcomedy, sometimes you have strong laughs, such as the karaoke scenewhen Ted sings only the vowels-- albeit only me and my friend laughedout loud in that cinema. In the end, I can't affirm this is a greatmovie, because the story is pretty cheesy and sometimes ridiculous, butif you're looking for free laughs, this may be a good choice. |

Superior to the Whole "Family Guy" NightmareSeth MacFarlane has an off day, takes a dump, and presents it to hisfans. It is really that bad. This movie is not funny, there is noattempt at humor, nor does it make up for with any great visuals orCGIs. There is not a single funny line coming from Seth himself, and infact he is not even the main character in the film. The marketing forthis film is deceiving, which is why I am ever more disappointed. Fromwhat I have recently heard, this film may have been made by MacFarlanefor undiscerning adults on Mainstreet USA, but even for doing so, hisidea falls face flat and it all comes off worse.MacFarlane takes a more supporting role and lets the costars (who areall really just annoying hams ruin the entire film. In fact I would notbe surprised if it were actually the kids in the film who actuallywrote, produced and directed the film. To hear stuff like the film took3 years to make, leaves me wondering what they did this whole time, asthe script could have been written in a day's time, the filming in amonth, and the CGI and post-production in 3 months.By all accounts, if you have 6-8 years olds, don't let them watch thisfilm (that is only if you don't have a good Pixar films around, or ET),but steer yourself clear, as any expectation that you may have for aMacFarlane film would leave you pulling your hair off your head andthrowing up.Steer clear off this junk. |

Highly recommenTED!Don't take your kids; Reasons are,1) Your kids would want their teddy, TED. 2) Not because they will getspoiled with clever-nasty humor; they will judge you sick, forlaughing. 3) You will be tired of explaining that a teddy bear can getaway with a lot of borderline stuff.Mark Wahlberg does what he does best; support a supporting actor. Hedid it in "Fighter" and now he has done it again. His innocent partplays right into the heart of humor like it did in "The other guys". Mila Kunis plays her part cleverly. Seth absolutely brings his accentbounded Griffin-ised self. Clever writing and cast. Loads of creditgoes to narration (you will know who), McHale and Ribisi for beingsublime at what they do. This is a movie where everyone shared thehumor load equally. Makes me watch with more powers of rewind/replay tore-live the spirited screenplay. When comedy films where spreading themselves thin; "a real breath offresh air" by just delivering what they wanTED. |

Grin and bear itIf you know what to expect, I expect you'll be entertained. I couldhave done without the distracting and unfunny cameos, but MacFarland'svoicing of the title character steals the show and garners enoughlaughs to make it bearable. Ted is a bromance with a difference; astory of arrested development that brings out the kid in you. The bearreally does come alive thanks to MacFarland and persuasive animation.Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis are appealing and give committedperformances while Giovanni Ribisi gives a creepy and campy performancethat would fit right into The Silence of the Lambs. If there's going tobe a sequel, how about Ted Meets Chucky? |
